Okay, I'm a little bit confused. First, here is what I have...
Receiver: Onkyo TX-SR805, and PS3 for blu-ray. I know PS3 can't decode DTS-MA, but I thought that if I did bitstream through HDMI, the receiver would then decode at full DTS-MA. Right now the receiver displays DTS: Neo and when i click on display (ps3 remote), it says DTS 1.5 mbps, which means all I'm getting is the DTS core. Anyway, this is where I'm confused. Am I doing something wrong? I know Sony plans on releasing a PS3 firmware that will allow dts-ma decoding, but what is the point of having a receiver that can decode DTS-MA? I was really excited about watching FF2 at full DTS-MA so maybe someone can shed some light my way? ![]() |

I think this could be an example, when your doctor says you can't eat cheese (DTS LOSTLESS MASTER SOUND) for now but you do have a really big mouth (805), therefore no matter you eat a little bit (bitstream)or a slice (HDMI) you still can't taste the best part of the cheese, however, if your doctor give you some medicine or whatever in the future (firmware for your PS3), you should able to taste it.
I know it is a bad example, however it is true. I don't have a 1.3a receiver, but I have a 1.2a receiver, when I played some of the Fox's blu-ray disc, I still feeling pretty good, 1.5mbps for a small room is more than good enough to me. I just watched AVP on blu-ray disc last night, sound is amazing and the picture is an upgrade from my previous DVD set. ![]() |

Thank you so much, I am planning to get the Fantastic four 2 and Day after tomorrow this weekend. I don't have a 1.3a receiver, hopefully after the firmware update to my PS3, the DTS-LOSSLESS MASTER SOUND may convert to 48kHz/24-bit 4.6mbps then I don't have to consider to buy a new receiver in the future.
Off topic a little I have a Toshiba A1 as well, but when I played some HD-DVD with a Dolby True HD sound, no matter how I turn UP the volume, the sound still not so good, the sound is really SMALL, but when I played blu-ray disc with Dolby TrueHD sound, such as Ghost Rider or Fifth Element, No matter how I turn DOWN the volume, the sound still really BIG, I am using a Sony receiver, ES3200, may be it is sony to sony , so it had no problem, but dealing with other product or bland name, it will play the disc, but it can't playing good. Please forgive my bad english. Last edited by victor_chan; 10-03-2007 at 12:45 AM. |

As far as Fantastic Four 2 goes, I watched it, and it does feel like it lacks sound. Can't wait for DTS-MA on the PS3. |
