USA Music Unlimited – v1.20 Update Released (My Channels, dislike, edit playlists)

Sony CES 2010 Press Conference: The Evolution of the PlayStation Network (YouTube)
presented by Kaz Hirai

Quote:
Sony is touting more than just new products at CES. As a total entertainment company, Sony can enhance its hardware offerings with unique content delivery services and platforms to complete the user experience. PlayStation®Network (PSN) now features video and digital comic content in addition to games. Its video service offers more than 2,600 movies from all major studios as well as more than 15,000 TV episodes and is now also live in the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Spain, with plans to add more countries later this year. Also, by leveraging the PSN platform, Sony will start premium video services for Internet-enabled BRAVIA and Blu-ray devices as well as VAIOs and other Windows-enabled PCs in the U.S. in February. Consumers can use a single user ID and wallet for the PSN and the premium video service.

This is amazing news. I can't wait to see what will come of it, and it just might get me to buy more SONY electronics in the future.

Recording (just the USTREAM - low quality) of Kaz's forward-announcements:
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/ces-10-sony/60504

Finishing with the establishment of Sony Network Entertainment, Inc. that will "drive vision, strategy and execution for network services across the entire Sony group; with the goal of offering consumers compelling, connected entertainment experiences on the PlayStation platforms and many other Sony devices."

Wow that's really cool. Like KBMS said though, Canada gets the shaft again regarding anything video store related.

If you have a US PSN account you can sign into the Qriocity site:

http://www.qriocity.com/

You can see Qriocity-activated Bravia's and Sony Blu-ray players, how many PS3/PSP's you have activated for various PSN media types and check your download list.

This is pretty cool. Interestingly it shows my one PS3 that I returned for service (and got a new one back) as active even though I thought I diabled it before sending.

Nice alternate way of looking at things instead of right on the PSN.

If deactivation was that easy, people would share content with strangers even more.

Hmm, with all the login info available to the strangers anyone could deactivate your console remotely. I think Sony need to step up and remove the 'gamesharing'. The only way is to IP lock the accounts and only let one account be signed in at once and make PSN log-in mandatory for playing any PSN game. Sounds drastic but it is the only way to stop people pirating games that don't require a disc.

As long as I can easily re-download my games when I get a new PS3, PS4 or whatever, I don't care. The only thing is it should be tied to my account and I should never lose it like in the videos or Singstar songs DRM. I think they should let you use it on more than one active machine as lots of houses have more than 1 PS3.

As far as the service goes, seems interesting, not a lot of movies available on the "What's hot" section, but I guess that's expected for launch. I wonder if it'll let you stream tv shows as well like netflix does.

I wouldn't feel too sorry for the people that shared all their login info, and if anything, allowing remote deactivation would certainly stop people sharing their login info with strangers, now wouldn't it? It might be the best way of stopping gamesharing, as it would only negatively affect those who were abusing it.

I just want the activation back I lost when a family member sold his PS3 for some quick cash without telling me about it.

they would be alienating people without a steady internet connection...

I work with someone who often goes to someone else's house if he wants to download a PSN game...he even came over to my spot to download FFVII...

it's extreme and unrealistic...or stupid on Sony's part if they made this mandatory - which is funny because I could see them doing this...

there are more people than you think without an internet connection...I often ponder getting rid of mine - people have become too reliant on technology and the internet these days...

It won't let u deactivate PS3's on that site. Says you have to do it on the machine itself. Think it does the same for PSP, only works for TVs and bluray players, unless the site itself isn't working correctly yet.
