Default The Horror of Party Beach -- August 28, 2018

Coming from Severin Films!

https://severin-films.com/shop/hpb-bluray/

"Uncut On Blu-Ray

For The First Time Ever!

In 1964, 20th Century Fox released an independent shocker – shot in two weeks for $50,000 outside Stamford, Connecticut by local producer/director Del Tenney – advertised as ‘The First Horror-Monster Musical’. More than 50 years later, this “absolute classic of exploitation cinema” (Legends Magazine) returns like you’ve never seen or heard it before: When nuclear waste dumped into the ocean mutates a shipwreck full of corpses, it will unleash an onslaught of bikini teens, surprising gore, dubious science, an intrepid maid, The Del-Aires, and arguably the greatest worst monsters in horror movie history. Severin is proud to present this cult favorite from “Connecticut’s own Ed Wood” (Stamford Advocate), now featuring a new 2k scan from the original negative and loaded with all-new Special Features like nothing that ever stalked this earth!

Special Features:
  • Return to Party Beach: A Retrospective Documentary on The Horror of Party Beach
  • It’s the Living End: An Encounter with The Del-Aires – Interview with Band Members Bobby Osborne and Ronnie Linares
  • Shock & Roll: Filmmaker Tim Sullivan On Rock & Roll Horror Movies
  • Archival Interview With Director Del Tenney
  • Trailer

PLEASE NOTE: Our Horror of Party Beach Blu-ray is also available in our special edition bundle called The Bundle of Party Beach, which also includes an Inflatable Beach Ball and Enamel Pin."

The Horror OF Party Beach.

Too bad these movies are released without the MSTK3 versions as extras.

I just pre-ordered the standard Blu-ray.

I’m a lot more excited about this release than any normal human should be.

This movie is so bad and unintentionally hilarious, but you can't stop watching it! It's why I love the MSTK3 version, you don't feel as bad sitting through it. I'm ashamed to say, that this movie actually SCARED me, as a child! This and the The Blob (1958). LOL

I think I'll wait until I can order it on Amazon. Free shipping!

If I decide to order this it won't be from Severin. Ordering direct is supposed to get you early shipping but I'm still waiting for my shipping notification for Combat Shock. I don't really care about beach balls, pins or magnets.

So this is part musical, eh? Pass.

No, it's not a musical. It was promoted as a musical comedy, because it's so bad, they needed to sell tickets. There is a band that plays music on the beach in some scenes. It's not like the cast breaks out into song ala Grease.

And it's pretty gory for a 60s movie. Good double feature with The Flesh Eaters.

If you've never seen it, you should try the MSTK3 version. It's hysterical.

Netflix and Amazon Prime have it.

This really should be a double-feature with Curse of the Living Corpse.

I first heard about this movie through It Came From Hollywood with Gilda Radner joking about the monster with hot dogs in his mouth.

Well, I grew up watching it on WNEW Channel 5, in New York City. They played low budget, cult classics all the time on a show called Creature Features in those days. It would awesome, if someone resurrected MonstersHD!!

Here's a cool programming schedule I found for WNEW:

Then shouldn't the film be titled "Horror At Party Inlet"?

I'm now less interested in this. With a title like that, it feels like this should've been shot in Venice Beach, not Connecticut. Yeah, not feeling this one.

Have you really never heard of this movie before? It's a cult classic, it's a so bad it's good movie, filmed in Connecticut, pretty gory for a 60s movie, hilariously goofy monsters, appeared on MST3K.

It's pretty bad, I prefer the MST3K version, but I might get the Blu-ray to see the uncut restoration.

The monster recently had an action figure made.

Maybe I saw it under a different title all cut to shreds on TV when I was 7 or something. I probably don't remember it because I've never been a fan of shoestring budget flicks with rubber monsters and other super cheesy effects I don't know why but if it feels like a chore to sit through or if I need to be drunk to enjoy it I don't feel it's worth my time.

In his nonfiction book, Danse Macabre, Stephen King really goes off on The Horror of Party Beach, calling it ”an abysmal wet fart of a picture.”

I love Stephen King, and I’m a lifelong fan of his work, but I hope that the special features on this Blu-ray include at least one person calling him out on what he wrote. He needs to be put in his place with regard to this statement.

As scrappy as The Horror of Party Beach is, it is not as self-indulgent as the last three books in The Dark Tower series, and, unlike a lot of recent King works, it doesn’t date itself with snide political barbs. Instead, this is a timeless movie that families will be able to enjoy for centuries to come.

I can't imagine anyone would take the film seriously enough to call it that.

Also, the title of the thread needs to be changed because the film's correct title is The Horror Of Party Beach, not "at" Party Beach.

I saw this at the New Beverly with a big crowd on the apparently last remaining 35mm print, completely sober and everyone had a blast, the movie is hilariously bad and very entertaining.
At least give this a watch with a group of bad movie friends, it's glorious.

Severin is cornering the market on movie themed balls, could this be the new slipcover?
