Talking My Post on HighDefDigest CEDIA 2007 Forum - Fending off HDDVD Fanboyz

Obviously HDDVD fanboys are even more pathetic with their wishful thinking than I had ever thought...there are quite a few of them on that forum, so we need more of us to be on that forum to drive them nutts!! LOL!!

Here is my post, fromt his morning, so far no "REAL" rebuttals on HDDVD fanboys' behalf...i didnt even talk about the superior audio/video technology that BD offers over HDDVD, just stated the very most basic facts about world-wide consumer and manufacturer support.

Hope you get a laugh out of this....

-----------------------------------------------
HDDVD Fan Boy's Quote from the HighDefDigest.com CEDIA 2007 thread:

What are your predictions????

I think cheap chinese HD players, and maybe Warner going exclusive.

My Resounding Reply:

Cheap HDDVD player - CHECK
Warner going HDDVD Exclusive - Not a chance in hell

Like the old saying says "DREAM ON HOOKAH!!!!"

Get real guys...look I used to be an HDDVD and BLuRay supporter, I had the xbox add on HDDVD player and PS3 since XMAS 2006, but I have long deserted HD-DVD after the Paramount announcements and multiple and overwhelming bluray hardware support announcements from every major manufacturer in the world (Sony, Panasonic, Pioneer, Denon, Harman Kardon, Samsung, Phillips, LG, Sharp, Lite-On, Daewoo, Funai, Mitsubishi, Hitachi, BenQ, Dell, Acer, Sun Microsystems and few more).

Toshiba is playing the exclusive hardware loner here in this battle, and I welcome the introduction of the $200 Venturer HDDVD player, because all it will eventually accomplish is driving the BLuray player prices down by xmas or Q1 2008. But it will not better Toshiba's position. I have to give it to Toshiba for having the BALLZ to stand up to all these Multi-Billion dollar Electronics Congolomarates....but I am sorry with 95% of hardware and electronics manufacturers swinging to BluRay, Neither Paramount/Dreamworks, nor Transformers bundled in a Toshiba 1080i player will do any good to HDDVD. It will certainly prolong the battle, but it will only hurt the consumer and their confidence.

Toshiba like I said, is playing the loner role that Sony played in the 80's with Betamax, and Circuit City played in the late 90's with DIVX. Being Alone never worked, when the whole world is against you. But thanks to Toshiba, HDDVD has put the neeed fire up BDA's butts to hurry up with their mandated 1.1 specs. You gotta love capitalism! Its the survival of the fittest.

So to recap this...

BluRay has the exclusive support of 4 of 7 major studios (Fox, Disney, MGM, Sony), and the neutral support of Warner which will continue for a very long time.

Bluray also has the support of many electronics conglomarates, the likes of Sony, Panasonic, Pioneer, Denon, Harman Kardon, Samsung, Phillips, LG, Sharp, Lite-On, Daewoo, Funai, Mitsubishi, Hitachi, Dell, Acer, BenQ, Sun Microsystems and few more

and last, Bluray is light years ahead with the industry's adaptation of BD-R and BD-RE 25 and 50GB discs, the 25GB BD-R discs are selling for $10-13 on some sites, with the PC BD-burners going for under $500. The mass storage market has a huge impact, so does the support of multiple exclusive studios, and MANY MANY Hardware and home eletctronics manufacturers, not to mention the lead in actual movie sales

HDDVD on the other hand, has Toshiba and Microsoft and the chinese Venturer company, in addition to LG's neutral support, plus the exclusive movie rights for Paramount, Dreamworks, and Universal, and the neutral support of WB.

Even if the industry DOES NOT CARE about what the consumers want, just by judging from movie and player sales, do you really expect all of these companies (Sony, Panasonic, Pioneer, Denon, Harman Kardon, Onkyo, Samsung, Phillips, LG, Sharp, Lite-On, Daewoo, Funai, Mitsubishi, Hitachi, BenQ, Sun, Warner, Disney, Fox, MGM, Sony Picturers...etc) to all bow down and accept a defeat?

HDDVD needs a miracle to live past through Spring/Summer 2008.

Thanks, and please as you see from my post, I did not try to personally offend anyone on this forum, just stating the facts as I see them, for both Bluray and HDDVD. So please take no offense, and feel free to critic my perspectives on this matter.

I saw that thread going on over at HighDefDigest too, and I also read your reply. I was amused at all of them predicting that Warner was going to announce they are HD-DVD exclusive. Didn't Warner announce at IFA that they were going to release more Blu-Ray in Q4 than Q1, Q2 and Q3 combined? I guess one could argue that Paramount was a big supporter of Blu right before it switched, but that would be pretty crazy for Warner to switch after that kind of statement.

Agree 100%. I think it more likely they would go Blu-ray exclusive than HD-DVD exclusive. I don't think they will go either way though, they are happy being neutral.

I am permanently banned, so I can't help I'm afraid.

Too many people there that cannot accept facts when presented and too many people that bait you on purpose so that they can report your response.

Two of the temporary bans I had that resulted in me being permanently banned were because I let myself get baited and the mods don't have time to trace the thread back to see where it went wrong, they just hand out infractions.

Default i just got an infraction at highdefdigest

evidently they are beoming very touchy over there at the HDD. i got an infraction for saying i wasn't surprised that treadstone would use derrogatory terms such as "gay" and then deffend their usage. so i got my first slap on the wrist there for "attacking another member". i wonder if they gave him a cookie or something.

the only reason i am posting over there is because my pda and this site are not jiving at this moment. so once i leave for work i'm SOL on seeing this site.

They are offering some crappy audio tracks though. They are using HD DVD standards.

So if Warner does switch to Blu exclusive next year, you will see a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth over there. Then the suicides begin.

Don't forget that the HD-DVD fans over there like to skim these forums for ammo, so be careful.
