We've been posting the latest news in the most appropriate subforum. You can use this General area if you like. It's mostly for copy protection and HD DVD talk but other issues are fine.

I liked the News forum too - kept the press releases separate from idle speculation and 'what TV should I get?' questions...

Cheers!

The question we have then is, say for example, when a new Blu-ray player is announced - does the thread go in the Latest News forum or the Blu-ray Players forum? I think it's more appropriate in the latter. We're open to suggestions though. I'll point Marwin to this thread.

The problem with the Latest News subforum was that it often overlapped with the other subforums. As nyg already said, what do we do if there is a press release about a new Blu-ray player from a company. Do we post it in Latest News, Blu-ray Players, or both? In the end we decided that most of the posts fit better in the specific forums rather than in a general news forum.

When it comes to finding the latest news about Blu-ray we should offer an even better alternative in the near future. That is, we're working on a completely new design/system for the site that should mean more and better news posted on the site instead of in the forums.

is it impossible to have a thread in two forums at once?
if so, you can still have a news forum with just the links to the real thread.

i liked the news forum as it often was updated earlier than the main site, but ofcourse having the news on the site will be better. having a place to discuss them is still needed though, so even without a news forum each news item on the site should contain a link to a thread.

in this particular case i was searching for a place to discuss the BD pc drives launched in japan... but i guess i should just start a new thread for that as i find nothing related with the search function

I think it's better the way it is now, since there sure was a lot of overlapping.

vBulletin Version 3 doesn't have that feature at the moment I believe...

Cheers to the management!
