Talking What would you leave for 'Doom'? - The saddest random thing I found...

Just a random thing I found on the WikipediA-page for 'The Legend of Zorro', I thought is one of the saddest but funniest things I read.

Below the casting-list it says: "Doug Jones was set to cameo at the film's end as Abraham Lincoln, but he had to leave the role to film Doom."

Oh - my - Goad! Having to leave a cameo in a reasonably good movie for a failure that's called 'Doom' (the movie). XD
Oh man, that's hilarious... but sad... Guess there was a contract and it paid more, but still, ouch, in a way...

Anyway, thought I'd share this. lol

Doom is good.

I've loved Doom since I was a kid.

The story wasn't exactly the same, but it was done well.

I have been waiting for a sequel or reboot. Was Doom really such a flop?

It arrived about eight years too late, on the heels of a guilt-by-association string of bad Uwe Boll game-movie jokes, and had no promotion known to man.

Apart from that, it's still one of the better examples of how to do a game movie.

I actually bought the Doom DVD the other day for about a pound. I was expecting it to suck badly based on what everyone has said about it, but I actually thought it was a pretty decent sci-fi flick. Dwayne Johnson was great as was Karl Urban. Rosumund Pike can't do an American accent to save her life though.

I was disappointed in it, but I did enjoy it better on the second viewing. I still think they could make it miles better though.

I thought I saw Doug Jones' name as a voice-actor, but I didn't know he did movies too. He's had quite a few interesting roles (so he was Abe in "Hellboy," cool).

I remember when a friend came back from the recent Star Trek movie and raved about Karl Urban as Dr. McCoy, my first response was "Karl Urban? He was in 'Doom'!"
Coming from a LOTR fan, however, I think I was supposed to have been impressed that Urban was Eomer in "The Two Towers"...Guess which one I thought of first, however.

It was the same with me. I think because Urban's name is plastered all over "Doom" right next to Dwayne Johnson's, but as a minor character in "LOTR," didn't get as much recognition. I also recalled he was the guy from "The Pathfinder," which was also a bit of an iffy film.

In truth, I like Karl Urban and I think he's a decent actor. He had excellent roles in "LOTR" and "Star Trek." After "Doom" and "Pathfinder," it could only go up from there.

Doom was fine by me but I loved the old PC games. I think it had a very narrow audience since many didnt bother because of the game reference but as a stand alone sci-fi/horror, it was decent and Dwane was very cool in it. I thought it would be a bit longer though and it really didn't have much of a sub-plot sliding along the main concept but I've seen worse that's for sure!

I've never played the video games, but from what i've seen of it, it's not that much. and I enjoyed the hell out of the movie. The Rock was a BAMF in this movie. I bought the blu ray a few months ago for $5 at Walmart. I thought it was a good Sci-Fi Action movie.

Doom was just an ok middling action flick which could have been so much better.

......and really I wanted to watch Doom, not Resident Doom.

Add me to the list that enjoys Doom for what it is: one of the better video game adaptations. I just watched my DVD copy again a few weeks ago and yeah it's certainly no classic, but it was never trying to be. It is a good action movie, and sometimes that's exactly what I'm in the mood for.

Hm, well, I said that "TLoZ" was a decent one, not like it's all amazingly great. I loved the first one though.
But 'Doom'... I can't agree with the person who said it's one of the better game-movies, then I'll go with the "Tomb Raider"-ones.
Those, I think, are REALLY underappreciated and somewhat underrated, and perhaps taken too serious and therefor set in a negative light.

Just hope they'll do 'Uncharted' right, on the topic of game-to-movie... Nathan Fillion FTW!

I thought Doom was an alright sci-fi/action movie, but it bugged me to no end that they eliminated the whole portal-to-hell concept. That's what Doom is all about. If you don't want to make a movie about space marines battling demons from hell, then don't make Doom. Such a dumb and pointless decision.

Poor Doug, he's got huge talent too. I forgot about that 'thing' people call a movie until I read this. Thanks Damage Inc.

The Doom movie is so completely worthless on every possible level, it could have pass for an Uwe Boll movie. Not sure how anyone could enjoy it. The game Doom 3 & its expansion pack Resurrection Of Evil still offer (even though pushing 7 years old, 'ancient' by gaming standards) infinitely better quality entertainment for your money.

I actually bought the game LAST YEAR! XD
I used to play some Doom 95 or something like that, back in the day though.
But I kind of passed on Doom 3... that gigantic hit one... it was never really my kind of thing.
So I decided I should just have it and have played it, being so into games and stuff too, it IS a classic.
