Paramounts viral transformers marketing - Blu-ray Forum

I just recieved a call from a number that had been spoofed into looking like a friends...

The pre-recorded message said it was optimus prime calling, and asked me to join the team of transformers... And I could join the team by going out and buying transformers on DVD next week. The recording went on to say if I knew of anyone else interested in joining the team, I should go to the transformers web site, and input their name.

Personally, until it's blue, the bastards ain't getting a dime of my money... but I just though it was a clever, if underhanded, marketing tactic.

Why underhanded? you get little impressionable kids receiving calls from optimus, and giving paramount numbers for friends... if each tells two friends, and so on, and so on...

Hmm. Underhanded? Underhanded may not be an adequate adjective. I'm not a lawyer, but I play one on TV (j/k)...spoofing for marketing purposes, I think, is not kosher. Are you on the do-not-call list?

Lots of companies use this type of marketing. Usually it's to a defined base through and not used blindly, as appears to be the case here.

If O. Prime called me, I'd tell him to get on BLU.

Oh and I'd tell him to make a better movie next time. This one was lackluster.

on a different note as i was putting on shoes to go out.. a transformers ad came on tv.. i was like "those ****ers paramount"... but then like the last 5 seconds were cut off LOL. i just chuckled.
