Default Toshiba says HD DVD players are outselling Blu-ray

"Toshiba says standalone HD DVD players are once again outselling standalone Blu-ray players."

"However, the statistics do not include Sony's PlayStation 3, which has a Blu-ray player inside. If PS3's nearly two million unit sales were included, Blu-ray would have a wide advantage over HD DVD."

There they go ignoring the PS3 again. My Blu Ray movies don't count.

“When new models hit stores there will be a surge in demand. There were some weeks where we lagged,” Jodi Sally, Toshiba's vice president of marketing, said yesterday at a DVD Forum conference
Right here Toshiba is saying that the release of new players will stimulate sales. Toshiba had just released their gen 3 players (A3, A30, A35 - if I remember right). This is why they had a spike in hardware sales.

Look at all the new players the Blu camp has coming. By mid-November Blu hardware sales are going to slaughter HD-DVD.

The only thing Toshiba is outselling is the produce department of my local grocery store.

1. Sony BDP-S300
2. Sony PS3

No HD-DUD crap at my house.

Me too. And next year I'm going to upgrade my receiver to accomodate HD audio and likely upgrade my standalone BD player too!

you my friend only have 1 standalone blu-ray player in Toshiba's book. ps3 does not count to them. seriously, toshiba is getting standalone and dedicated players mixed up. the ps3 does not need any attachments to play BD, which makes it a standalone. however its function is not deditcated to blu-ray discs so it should not be considered a dedicated player.

But somehow, I am sure that Toshiba "counts" the cheesy HD-DVD add-on drives for the 360 as "standalone" players.

That won’t happen because of the disc rot they keep getting. You don't want contaminated food or food that taste like S*IT!!!

While it COULD be true the players outsell blu-ray standalone, it still doesn't make blu look good. The undiscerned could presume HD DVD are winning the format war. Typical FUD move on their part.

Remember, in all the polls we had here, the overwhelming majority use their PS3's as players. The stand alone users like myself, indeed do stand alone.
