Default Sentou Yousei Yukikaze on Blu-ray!

This anime will be released in Japan subbed and dubbed in english as well as Japanese. For fans of this OVA series, you will know that it's a wide-screen CG/2D surround sound epic. Makes top gun look like disney land lol. It's going to be rather expensive, but it will be a rare release, and I for sure will be getting it!

Release date is: January 25, 2008

http://www.animeondvd.com/

Amazon Japan already has it listed here:

Damn! Between all of these BD movies and games coming out, I'll need to pick up a ski mask and start knockin' people in the head!

For the record, this is an upconvert. Lossless audio should be good though.

Did you guys see the price though - 26040 yen!

That's 260 bucks before shipping! I love Yukikaze but that's enough to make me willing to wait unless there's some really cool extras with it (a sexy Captain Edith Foss figure mayhaps lol)

I would expect that it will get released in America as well. Royal Space Force, Patlabor etc.. are also going to release in the US, but if you noticed the packaging and disks are the exact same as the Japanese release. They are using the exact same product release for both countries. Since they say this one is limited I'm not sure if it will, but ya due to the price I will hold out a bit and see if it shows up on domestic stores.

That's $220 USD roughly and that's pretty typical Japanese pricing for their anime DVDs. No big shocker really. When the OVA DVDs were being released, they were even higher in price. This is a bargain comparatively.

I wasn't pointing out that it was overpriced for Japan - I'm well aware of how much they have to pay compared to NA. I'm in the US though so 260 bucks or even the 19270 yen price Amazon is selling it for is comparatively steep. In the US, even the 70 bucks I paid for Honneamise on BD seems pretty exorbitant to a lot of my anime-buying friends.
