Default Pachter: PS3 may sell 1.45 million Nov/Dec.

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?p...FPg&refer=home

Quote:
Sony may sell as many as 450,000 PlayStation 3 consoles in November and almost 1 million in December, Pachter said. Consumers have purchased 6.3 million Xbox 360s, introduced a year earlier, according to NPD Group Inc., a Port Washington, New York-based researcher.

Tretton said Sony's holiday marketing will stress the Blu- ray player in addition to game play. He declined to say how much the company will spend.

now how many people are going to say they didn't know the PS3 was a bluray player...

There's no mention there about how many XBox 360's failed and had to be returned to Microsoft.

Sony only sold 119k PS3's in September. What game(s) are going to come out that will make those sales triple?

More likely informing them it's better than DVD, not just an equal quality alternative, plus how to get the best out of it.

Haze, UT3, Rachet and Clank, Pro Evo etc., but most importantly price.

September was also influenced by Halo 3.

UT3 is being delayed 'til 2008 and none of the rest of those titles will sell consoles like Halo 3 did for the 360.

Probably many. Today at Gamestop I dealt with a clerk that didn't even know what component cables were.

Unreal Tournament 3 didn't get delayed. After Midway said it was, Epic clarified it by saying that it may get delayed.

Hell yea its a good move for both Blu-Ray and the PS3 install bases. Insomniac said that Ratchet and Clank ToD is supposed to ship next Tuesday, they beat the week delay (the first PS3 game to do this)

Resistance, a game almost a year old, is enjoying a sales spike in the UK following the console price drop. This is a sign that there's a lot of latent demand for the PS3. New titles aren't the only thing spurring on PS3 uptake.

Halo 3 sold very few consoles. As big as Halo 3 is, it isn't going to sell 10million x360's and the disappointment factor means it may not outsell Halo 2. Virtually every Halo owner is going to be a Halo 2 and xbox 1 owner, it very much preaching to the converted.

Agreed. The people who bought Halo 3 already had 360's. Of course they're all at M$ being repaired.
