It's Disney (BV), so I would hope that we'd see it next year. It's even available in the UK. And I believe that it's not Region coded, but you'd have to check. I also recall that some members of this forum have gotten copies from overseas as imports. But there's been no firm word on it being released in the U.S., unfortunately.

You can get it from here

http://www.sendit.com/video/item/7001000135877

It's region free and has great PQ and PCM sound too

It's Disney overseas

They wanted to add something, but I think it's more likely that marketing wanted to tie it into Starship Troopers 3 (DTV) that has Casper Van Dien in it

Yep. Disney has released it pretty much everywhere over here. Since it's region free and has English LPCM audio, it's safe to order.

i ordered it yesterday from my favorite sendit... the only drawback - it is quite expensive (almost 40U$), but since theres no US edition this year... damn europe prices!!... btw when the greenbacks are about to stop this incredible dive?? my bro lost hundreds of them in last 2 yrs just laying on a bank account...

Heh I got mine locally as part of a B2G1. PQ is rather variable. Some parts the matte lines are also painfully obvious - it could have used some tweaking.

I can wait for Sony also. This has been discussed a few times already. It's a must have for me when Sony finally gets its head out of its butt.

LOL this movie is very low budget btw... the first 15 minutes and the cave scene (at the end) look 'Ok' but the rest look awesome for what this is... of course..

Yeah, i have this movie... and it annoyed me somewhat

I'd read reviews that said the picture quality was excellent

However, upon commencing into it it, i was initially very shocked... Not only did it not look great, it was damn well terrible, borderline VHS... really grainy and fuzzy

But after 15 mins or so, almost as if the reel changed, it was suddenly crystal clear and sharp... and actually looked pretty fantastic for a film of it's age and i cheered right up...

But then 15 minutes from the end, and right in the climax of the movie... it suddenly goes very poor again

Personally i just can't understand it - it's like they couldn't find a decent copy of the first and last reels of the film to use to make the transfer or something

I really takes the shine of the movie for me, and i can't bring myself to watch it anymore

Hopefully one day, a re-release will fix the problems

Has there been ANY word on a US release next year? Cause I really want this but don't want to have to order overseas.

Some scenes looked flat and soft but I think this is way it has been shot. 28 Mpbs avg VC-1 transfer and it rocks. LFE is mind blowing. 2 hours of insane entertainment. Very few titles have the entertainment and replay value and ST is a jewel among them.

Yeah, Check your setup. Ive watched my copy at least 20 times and its a solid transfer throughout. Whisky outpost and the scene with the tanker bug just beforehand always blows me away.

Can't wait for Starship Troopers 3 to come out

I didn't realize they were releasing a third. I loved the first and didn't mind the second one at all. Personally I would buy a box set of all three should they release it like that (even though I know next to nothing about 3).
