The Last of the Mohicans Blu-ray

anyone know when or if Last of the Mohicans is coming to Blu-Ray ... this is one of my favorite movies of all time.

Ask in this thread...it is your best chance to get an answer. If I remember correctly the elements are not in the best of shape for a great looking Blu-ray currently.

I just saw this film for the first time the other day on cable ... and what an awesome film. Does anyone know if this film is slated for a Blu-Ray release? I sure hope so, I think the scenery would really stand out in Blu.

haven't heard anything, but i'd be interested to see if both the theatrical and director's cuts are on the blu (or which version is ultimately released for that matter). as far as i know only the directors has been available on the dvd per michael mann's request, the theatrical nowhere to be found

Yeah a blu of this film would be nice,the DVD was non-anamorphic to boot!

I am trying not to upgrade ALL of my DVD's (at least now) on Blu-Ray. Last of the Mohicans however is one that I plan on upgrading as soon as available. One of my favorites.

The original release was non-anamorphic, but Fox re-issued it later with 16x9 enhancement and DTS sound.

It is currently being worked on though I don't know what the timeline is for release. This and Heat were both in the pipeline for encoding earlier this year. With Mann's new film hitting screens this Summer I wouldn't be surprised if it makes it out this year to coincide.

This is one of my dad's favorites. I like it pretty good too. Daniel Day Lewis did a helluva job in this one.

I think this was the best movie set in it's time. And, to add more credit, it was just a great movie altogether. Michael Mann did a great job on this one, as did DDL. It will be interesting to see how well the transfer is, but I am really excited to hear the sound of this movie on Blu.

One can only hope, there are very few films as good as The Last of the Mohicans. The only one from this list I will be adding to my Blu-ray library is The New World, and what a stunningly amazing film it is. No Blu-ray library should be without Malick.
