Ehh well...but I think its because of the space, not the bandwidth.
When confronted with the sound issue in Transformers being related to bandwidth and not size, Clownbaby denied it saying that it was because of size. Earlier it was said that the 51gb disc would solve all of the issues.

Didn't get it either, but found this to be funny -

When I upgrade my home theather I will be buying a nice Bose LifeStyle system and I'd want the option for my movies to support the features.

If you can't afford it then don't even open your mouth. I hate people that justify something not being needed because they don't have access to it.

It sounded like it was just him not being sure -- didn't read much of the thread.

It may be a case of it being a space and bandwidth issue in the end -- if they had more bandwidth they'd likely have run out of space (if they didn't already).

There's ignorance all around though, so I just didn't see the relevance of pointing out a case of it at another forum (which didn't seem to be a very offensive case either). That's where my "I don't get it..." was from.

It is an HD-dvd.com forum, I wouldn't expect them to be the most informed about things (although, to be fair, I see much ignorance here as well -- I come for the insider thread and occasional harmless thread outside of that) -- the average forum goer can't be expected to know everything and they'll naturally favor the side they're on in their ignorance... no different from anything else. Intentional ignorance like rdjam, midnightwatcher and a few others at avsforum is an entirely different story (and rather sad).

Sometimes this war tires me a great deal. (and then I put it something like The Patriot, like I did last night, and enjoy the crap out of it and forget about this silly war)

Hah -- That's a pretty good one. For a little more effort a person can do so much better than Bose for the same price.

That sherbert guy is an idiot. My $400 sony receiver does 7.1 PCM. Therefore it also can handle TrueHD decoded by my PS3 (and hopefully ill be able to say the same soon about DTS-MA)

People should realize that you absolutely do not need a receiver that decodes TrueHD or DTSMA internally in order to take advantage of those codecs. All you need is a player that decodes them, and a receiver that accepts PCM.

To the point, I dont see why they bother defending a format that has already shown its size and bandwith weaknesses.

Understandable, but this Clown guy was a zealot and he didn't even have the goods to back his format properly.

How can they have a straight face saying "superior sound is not essential". The mind boggles and the fact that there is so many of them is frightening.

I've got $1500 in my system and I would put mine up against Bose any day... And completely blow it away.

weather the sound quality sucks do to size or banwidth. We can be sure of one thing, it would be a lot better on blu-ray.

The guy is a moron though. He was arguing about finding a receiver to decode Dolby TrueHD for under $500. He was saying its about $1000. What rock has he been hiding under? You can find the Onkyo TX-SR605 that decodes TrueHD for $399.99 from JR.com

In reality, and coming from the AV business, Bose was never really about ultimate private homes sound quality, but good sound for BIG venues (that need a lot of punch). In that regard, they have some pretty awesome R&D for accoustics, but it's obvious a living room isn't a concert hall or even a club, and despite what some might think, the audio systems in concert venues isn't about the best sound, but the one that can blow the audience's ears away while still sounding decent (and sometimes complex accoustics involved where delays and reverbs. are involved).
