Experience what it’s like to be an Ops Commander as you lead a 5-person squad in a special mission to discover what’s behind the annihilation of NATO Special Forces in Southeast Asia. Continuing to raise the bar for tactical gaming, SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs introduces new ways for players to engage in combat. For the first time in franchise history, players will be able to utilize both the PlayStation Move and DUALSHOCK controllers to enable precise, tactical control over their A.I. teammates.

FULL DEPLOYMENT EDITION

In addition to the standard version of SOCOM 4 that you’ll find in stores across America on April 19, there will also be a special limited run SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs Full Deployment Edition. Priced at $149.99, the SOCOM 4 Full Deployment Edition is packed with all kinds of awesome. What kind of awesome are we talking about? Check it:
  • SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs video game on Blu-ray disc
  • PlayStation Move Motion Controller

  • PlayStation Eye Camera
At the heart of this limited edition bundle is the PlayStation Move sharp shooter, giving you pinpoint precision and a streamlined and authentic design. On top of all that, you also get easily accessible buttons, responsive digital trigger, realistic pump-action, a firing mode selector, adjustable shoulder stock and convenient access to the navigation controller. Sold separately, the contents of the SOCOM 4 Full Deployment Edition are valued at nearly $220, making its $149.99 price tag a savings of more than 30%!

PREORDER BONUSES

Regardless of which version of SOCOM 4 you purchase, you can still pre-order it at participating retailers to receive two unique slug-powered shotguns (one each for both the Spec Ops and Insurgent teams). Of course, folks who pre-order SOCOM 4 at GameStop get the shotgun plus the exclusive Suppression map, “Abandoned,” inspired by the classic map of the same name from SOCOM 1 and II.

STORY

Control meets chaos when a special forces team confronts a no-win situation. Thrown into an international catastrophe, the Ops Commander, Cullen Gray, attacks with expertise and tenacity. With only six days, the OpsCom must lead his team to capture a militant revolutionary aimed at destroying the world’s most vital waterway and disrupting the global economy.

The OpsCom leads a multinational force comprised of First Lieutenant Park Yoon-Hee (call-sign "45"), a South Korean covert operations specialist; Chief Petty Officer Dion Wells; Heavy Weapons Operator Eric Schweitzer; and Chung Kwan, a South Korean reconnaissance operative. The team is assisted by ORACLE, a surviving intelligence analyst aboard a crippled NATO carrier located offshore.

Arrow Socom 4: - Official - Zipper Dev - Fall 2010

Official blog post here:
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/...-its-official/

For all those that missed Zipper developing Socom (Slant 6 did PS3 version), it's a great day.

It's now confirmed that Zipper is making Socom 4 for the PS3 (already in development). The planned release date is Fall 2010.

Notes from that blog post:

1. Socom 4 coming exclusively to PS3 this Fall.

2. Single player + 32 player online modes.

3. GameTrailers TV is airing world premier trailer tonight at 12:30am EST/PST on Spike TV (should be posted soon after I hope).

4. Fear not MAG players, they've got dedicated teams on both and a ton of support planned for a long time.

GRAW > Socom. But I'm still pumped!

But I guess we can kiss MAG support goodbye.

So stoked for this, especially since Zipper is making it (compared to that lackluster other SOCOM PS3 game).

Unfair comparison. GRAW started off this generation, the numbered SOCOM series were all limited by the PS2 and Confrontation was badly botched by S6. A good comparison will be Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and SOCOM 4 this Fall. My money is on SOCOM.

Exactly. I'm sure Zipper will continue to support MAG for quite some time like they said in the announcement for Socom 4. It's a successful game, so there would be no reason for them not to.
