The Funny thing is the excuse of DD+ 1.5

I mean.. isn't DD + 1.5, the exact same as DTS 1.5? Both are 24bits 5.1 channel codec

Is DTS 1.5 Enought for those people..

Same rationalization that goes on on the avs forum.

You'd think that the enthusists would want the lossless sound and best pq possible. Instead, they argue that it's "good enough". Makes no sense to me. The difference from DD to DD+ may be greater than from DD+ to lossless, but if you're paying a premium for HD movies, wouldn't you want the highest quality?

HA! I really love the people who were adamant about the "only $1000+ receivers can do TrueHD." There was even a link that these guys didn't want to acknowledge. So pathetic. God, I am so glad I'm blu.

It's really kinda sad when high-def movie enthusiasts like they surely are have to resort to defending using inferior audio & video quality just because they made a mistake and invested in the wrong format...

Because let's face it, that's what's happening now, they're getting really desperate. They were so happy with the Paramount decision, and now when their top release of 2007 gets released on HD DVD without lossless sound because HD DVD doesn't have enough capacity, they feel like they have to defend that decision no matter what, since admitting that HD DVD doesn't have enough capacity now, would be like admitting Blu-ray is better and that they just wasted a lot of money on the wrong format.

My guess is many of them are actually starting to realize this now, but will just silently try and sell their HD DVD player on ebay and buy a Blu-ray player instead, not to lose face.

What are these guys smoking? The best possible sound is abolutely a must for any home theater system. I am still pissed at myself for not doing enough research earlier this year and bought a receiver without any HDMI inputs.

Has anyone read the comments they are making on the Jack Ryan collection and the extra's not on any of the discs. Could it be a "space issue"

No comment from the studio as of yet........................????

If those 51Gb appears some day (year or decade), than bunch of freakboys need to buy new and expensive players, as i read that there's no way to made 'em compatible via firmware updates, so the boring lower price "feature" they always argument will be vanished, because that day Blu-ray players will cost less and will be more stablished on the market, while "toshi" have to re-market the "expanded" format because all actual players will be practically converted in great & expensive DVD players...

and unfortunately the big reason behind the lack of lossless is bandwidth. To get the video pristine and include IME something had to go

It 's not that some of them don't know what's going on, it's too late for them so they are trying to save the face! Why do you buy top of the line Receiver (and Speakers)? I don't think it is just for the video part of it.

I usually try to stay out of these threads, but I really had to put this quote up from post # 13:

"When I upgrade my home theather I will be buying a nice Bose LifeStyle system and I'd want the option for my movies to support the features."

I think that says it all.

Probably the most ill-informed bunch I've seen. Arguing over the price points on receivers, when the information is very easy to find, etc. The combative person in me wants to join and respond, but I'm resisting . . .

Just wanted to say that if I were you and had a Harmon Kardon 435 I would not care if I had HDMI switches I love their recievers and own the AVR135.

Just my 2.3 cents

GTsmokeya

ps. since I could only read the first page of that post and felt bad for the guy I cannot read anymore.
