Default Play.com steelbook postage

Hi guys,

I was wondering if anybody knows how much it costs to post a steelbook to the uk in play.coms packaging with the royal mail, and maybe the overseas prices, as i am looking to sell my 3 steelbooks, i have stopped collecting them before it gets too addictive lol

To send them second class in the UK I think you're looking at £2.20.

Just use Royal Mail Price Finder and just set the item as a Packet.

That should give you some indication.

1 steelbook via Royal Mail Standard airmail is £5. You'll need to add on another £5.15 if you want signed-for airmail.

Just remember to keep the packages under 2kg if you're ordering alot of titles for a member otherwise it'll cost the earth.

Thank's Sithlord for your reply,I guess I will go for the standard airmail then....I'm sure the buyers will want to keep the price down.

Keep in mind though that with tracked postage + insurance, there is much more peace of mind. I've sent quite a few and at least with those that didn't arrive on time they knew where it has got up to. It's also about not just trust with people but ensuring the mail service don't cock up. It's why i'm a bit apprehensive about 15 steelbooks my buddy sent me not turning up yet despite being sent at the end of July. sent using ground mail as it was cheapest and working it out it can take up to 6 business weeks, so i'm still inside that period but still makes you

Sometimes I wonder if it was worth agreeing to this, peace of mind is great but I obviously would be paying for that rather than lumping it onto the buyer.
I am not doing this to make money but I don't want it costing me either.

1st class recorded in the UK will be £3.65 in play's box packaging (that's the amount I get charged most of the time)

I'm sorry but why on Earth would you cover the postage costs? You can give a buyer all the different postage options and if he chooses one that costs an extra £10.50, then that's on him.

I don't much like people charging way over the odds for Steelbooks but if you're always upfront about all the extra postage costs, that's not an issue, really.

I make it very clear from the start to all the guys i deal with that i'm only using the tracked for method to send it simply to avoid any issues for both parties and that they would be paying for that. Some people like that, some don't. We're not Amazon after all that we can exactly deal with it should things get lost in the post and people want replacements. In the interest of avoiding anybody being out of postage, the slightly extra money is worth it.

Anybody that doesn't obviously wish to pay for that is of couse free to use the various members who don't mind sending it not tracked etc. I just don't like the idea of working without it though.

Fair enough,I am new to this hence my post for answers, yes I didn't see why I should cover the postage but if I could send it to the U.S. for a fiver I wasn't sure then me charging someone double that so I had peace of mind was very fair either.
Thank's for your post and that's what I will probably do,let them know the options and if they choose the cheapest then fine and I will keep my finger's crossed it arrives.

Look, if somebody chooses to go with non-tracked, make it very clear that should the worst happen, your not responsible for it. The only thing needed on your end of things is proof of postage to show it was sent. The rest is obviously on the buyers. Much like we package up everything in bubble wrap etc, we cannot predict the abuse some morons might end up giving it either. it's simply out of our control but you can certainly offer them the various options

At the same time, if you're willing to sell a Steelbook for £40 (I'm not saying you are, just using this as an example), then honestly, you should at least cover the postage.

think people care about maintaining lucrative profit margins in those cases lol. Let's not go down that route though, it's caused enough issues already

Very true. It seems I'm not likely to change the world on this...

Face value £10.99,about $17 and thank's again for your posts.
I have decided to go with the recorded/signed for option,I will ask the buyer to agree with this or be responsible for the package.
If he doesn't want this then I will leave it,problem solved I believe.
