I'm going with the SONY BDP-S1 I think it's the best value player of all the Blu-Ray players comming out.

I'm holding off on ps3 til after xmas (probably buy it with tax-return)

This is probably the cheapest you'll find it though:

My advice is to wait. I'm really tempted to jump the band wagon, but their is a 50% chance of being screwed as an early adopter.

I'd rather wait until this hash settles, and THEN wait for the prices to drop a little. Isn't part of the reason you are here is to make smart choices? Think about it.

I don't think you'll be screwed by buying a blu-ray player. I also think that if you get enjoyment out of watching your movies in HD you might wanna evaluate how much that is worth to you.

Buying a new generation consumer electronics device, like a Blu-ray Disk player, is very much like buying a personal computer.

If you wait six months or a year there will always be something better, faster and more capable.

But, the question is, like with a personal computer, "What can you do with it in the intervening six months to a year?" Can you do with it enough to offset the earlier purchase?
