Default Skate

Skate Demo runs at 1080p!! Sweet!

Anyone else interested in this game? Never thought it would be at 1080p, the game runs smooth! I know its just the demo. I am sure the game will run the same way.

Good thing, someone finally got it. Now you have to answer my questions

1.Can I make my own character?
2.Can I be a girl?(I hate games without this feature)

How is the game overall? is it similar gameplay-wise to tony hawk? I would try it myself but my PS3 is still broken.

I played the demo on the 360 a couple weeks or so ago. The game seemed interesting.

I'm not a skater, so I'm sure the interest level will wear off quickly.

I seem to remember from the 1UP Show them saying you could create a character but not a female one.

You can create a character

not sure if you can create a girl. I am sure you will in the final game, this is just the demo and its really fun!

Ok I just got this game and am really digging it. It reminds me of the days when I skated, picking lines and just enjoying skating.

One thing I need to know, if anyone has figured it out, is, can you switch your stance on the fly? I skate regular-footed and set it up that way when I created my skater but it seems that half the time when I land my tricks I end up goofy-footed and it takes forever for me to get back to regular stance.

Any help GREATLY appreciated.

BTW buy this game over Tony Hawk if you want to "skate" in a game.

Default Flick-its

Great game, got this one on rental at the moment. Totally unique game of manual skill. It even upscales to 1080i for those of us with CRTs.

Am I the only one who has trouble doing "flick-it" tricks (pull right stick down and push quickly up to the 11 or 1 o'clock positions)? Even after some practice I can only hit these about half the time. No problem though with ollies and shove-its.

Is this how it's supposed to be, just like in real life where you can't nail a trick every time you try?

Yeah, i think you hold the right control towards a bottom corner. and i agree with you this game is definitely gonna appeal to people who actually skate, very realistic controls.

Its been my experience so far that you definitely aren't going to be nailing your tricks every time. I'm really enjoying Skate but I'm not sure if its going to appeal to casual gamers.

Skate is a cruel master, and a beautiful lover all in one game. You will be seeing the Hall of Meat screen many, many times. And unless you just crave trying to pull off certain tricks at certain spots until you nail it (or go mad and have to skate somewhere else for a while) maybe you should be playing Tony Hawk instead.

When you do nail what you've been trying, man its satisfying. Just like skating in real life.

So far I've only played the Demo, but I used to skate for many years, this is sooo realistic as to true skating, THPS went downhill after #2, the newest demo for its is just stupid, stupid, stupid, with all the slowmo pausing while doing trics Skate is amazing but can get frustrating too.

Yeah honestly this is an almost perfect mirror of how skating in real life is. Tony Hawk is more of an all ages type of game where even little kids could just pick up and play. But in terms of getting the real skating experience in a game this one beats it by miles. I wish though they improve the flick it system. While it is a great idea it is still a little too hard to do the tricks you wanna do when you need to.

Phew, so I'm not the only one.

I regard this game as the Gran Turismo of skateboarding, more a simulation than an action title. Totally maddeningly frustratingly terrific.

Tried the demo....bought the game. That intro with the ambulance is freakin' hillarious. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Mark Gonzales as the ER doc! He's one of my favorite skaters....once upon a time......OMG was that the 80's?

Game is really good, frame rate is a nightmare. I play at 720p. Also, skate.reel where you upload your vids doesn't work for PS3. They are supposedly working on that.
