United Kingdom Alfred Hitchcock: The Ultimate Filmmaker Collection Nov 11 pre-order

Alfred Hitchcock: The Ultimate Filmmaker Collection Blu-ray

I mean wtf??
Universal is releasing ANOTHER massive box set collection??
good grief. I mean 1 year later; that's just ridiculous, although it does look pretty awesome.
I got the first UK massive box set last year. this set looks very similar, but has some different swag apparently.
shame none of the poorer transfers will be improved most likely.

Man, that is awesome. I also got the big one from last year but i'm still tempted to get it. They would look good next to each other lol Just hope the price comes down a bit.

I said this in the US Hitchcock thread: this looks nice, but it's incredibly impractical to have every film in its own metal reel cannister.

Unlike the previous release, this one also includes To Catch a Thief, but it doesn't appear to have the special features found on the Paramount release.

I also see a North by Northwest cannister. That's two additional movies in this set not included in the last one. I don't think I can afford this but it's beautiful.

Oh yeah I forgot the UK didn't get NbNW in the previous release (the US one had it). It'd be nice if they put out a standard size version that added those 2, though I imagine that might upset people more than this huge re-release.

Yeah, probably. I already have the separate releases for To Catch a Thief and North by Northwest anyway and this is almost definitely going to just be re-releases of the previous discs. I can't be effed investing anymore money in them until the less impressive ones get the proper treatment. I doubt that day will ever come though so I'm happy with mine. Though I would possibly like to replace my standard UK NxNW BD with the US digibook. That looks quite lovely.

I wouldn't mind the cannisters as an alternative to Steelbooks. I think they'd be neat!

It's definitely got high marks for creative box design from me! I love the canister film idea!! Just wish it wasn't so expensive, I'll keep it on my price tracker should it ever go down to 100 or so. I would use those film cans as decoration around my house

Would love it, but I got the last one, and picked up NbNW and TCaT separately. Not shelling out again.

This,
It does look very aesthetically pleasing though, damn Universal for re-releasing so soon after their initial set .

As much as I love Hitchcock films, the previous boxset is enough for me. If they had put in Foreign Correspondent and Suspicion then I might have been tempted, but it would have still been expensive for two films when I own all the other ones

Those little cannisters are really nice though, and it's also got the two extra postcards

I really want Warner to release their other Hitchcock titles and all the BFI restored ones to come out. To me that is much more important

The biggest issue is how they are going to keep the discs from moving around in the canisters. I realize they aren't going to be that thick, but they'll still be thicker than the disc.

I bet they'll use a piece of foamlike material a la the Total Recall special round metal Mars dvd collector's piece. ever see one of those? the disc sat on top of a piece of round foam.

I imagine there will be a hub inside the actual cannister to hold the disc, the same way a standard case would. These are custom made so it would be dumb of them to not make something like that to secure the disc.

Yeah, they can count me right out. Just got my set Masterpiece set the other day for a great bargain. This looks classy, but nah, i'd rather watch A Weekend At Bernies 2 on repeat for 24 hours than purchase this somewhat pointless set :/

Rarely has my eager anticipation been so rudely, and comprehensively crushed than when I watched that piling steam of sh1t!

Very nice, a bit pricey though. I didn't expect another set like this so soon.
