Default Ridley Scott; Blu?

Ok, so I'm really looking forward to American Gangster and personally I'm hoping that Scott does something like he did with Kingdom of Heaven and makes it a blu-ray release.

does Scott have a clause like that of Spielberg? I was looking through Scott's movies and all of them released in HD format of any kind are in Blu-Ray.

Any ideas on this?

All I know is that Kingdom of Heaven was released under Fox, which has been Blu exclusive since the beginning.

True, but from what I've read he insisted it be on blu-ray through the Italian distributor, although I'd guess he has more sway with an Italian distribution company than with Universal.

Francis Ford Copolla has en exemption, The Godfathers would come out on Blu-ray as well as HD DVD

Where is this information?

If anything the only reason why this would happen is because Spielberg is personally involved with the Godfather restoration and negotiated it as part of the deal.

I've seen it mentioned several times, but I don't recall seeing anything concrete on the subject.

I must say, Transformers to me is a stupid movie with little or no plot. But American Gangster on the other hand is a movie I'm really wanting to own in HD.

I wont go neutral, but this one makes it tempting.

I honestly hate the format war, it's time everyone sees the blu-light at the end of the tunnel.

The press release specifically exempted Spielberg and no one else. Coppola could have arranged a similar "out" for himself under the "titles with certain box office success" clause, but Spielberg is the only one with blanket immunity

I doubt it, but if he is a fan of Blu-ray and went to Universal and talked to them about it, it might help the cause. This should be hitting disc way after CES, and I think Universal will either make a move there, or not for a while.
