Default Entrapment

How does this look compared to the DVD version? Is it a worthy upgrade I really love this film and would like to upgrade and get rid of the dvd but I want to know if its worth rebuying on blu-ray? Thoughts?

I seem to remember it looking pretty great when I rented it. It's under $10 new on Amazon right now, I say just buy it.

Pretty good transfer and lossless audio adds a new dimension.

Don't expect it to look or sound as good as some of the other top notch transfer out there, but it is definitely superior to its DVD counterpart. For a $10 price point, I'll recommend it.

Video quality is acceptable. Not great but not bad. The lossless audio does make for a great experience.

LOL @ the photo used on the review page. Funny enough, that's all I remember form this movie as I was a senior in high school when it came out and that scene is all we talked about.

Surely this is due for a remaster/4k release?

Not going to happen any time soon.

It's a Fox title, so Disney owns it now.

Even the BD has been OOP for a while now.

Disney isn't focused on UHD releases of Fox catalog titles. They've only done Speed and Home Alone, which people said were already prepared by Fox before the takeover.

Even if Disney ever does start releasing more Fox catalog titles, it'll be big ones like The Sound of Music, etc. Minor catalog titles like this will be way down the queue, sadly.

Unfortunately, I'd say don't hold your breath for this on UHD, or even for it to come back into print on BD.

Which is ludicrous, that's holding films hostage, and further begs the question as to WHY Disney even bothered buying 20th Century?? Other than to obtain their Marvel properties?

I agree. People suggested they were buying Fox to put all their titles up on their streaming services, but I haven't seen that happen. Anyway, most wouldn't fit the Disney+ family friendly branding, they'd have to go on Hulu.

Nobody believed me when I said that Disney was going to let most of the Fox titles on BD slip out of print when the current supplies ran dry, but aside from a few major evergreen titles, the vast majority of Fox BDs sure seem to be hard to find at this point.

It's sad.

At this point I would take the original blu-ray. I don't even have that.

Amazon has used copies from third-party sellers starting at just over $2, it's not a rare one, luckily:

https://www.amazon.com/Entrapment-Bl...2940201&sr=8-2

The rare OOP Fox titles are cult or classic films that sold very few units. Lots of people bought this when it came out, and looks like many of them sold it since.

Watched this earlier and thought the first half is pretty good, but the second half.. sheesh. not sure what happened, but watching a heist fails miserably is not fun, and it get worse
[Show spoiler]that they get away with it, just because.
