I really hope we kick 'em in the teeth with Spiderman 3. Would doubling 190,000 in the first week be too much to ask?

The Box office might not mean much. Look at how some movies tank at the box office but end up being part of the top ten when the DVD version is released.

And that's not the only thing to be concerned with. I think OVERALL Spiderman3 and the boxset will beat Transformers, but there within lies the problem; the DUD crowd will be all over the individual movie's numbers, and give no allowance for the combination of the movie coming out with the boxset at the same time.

Please don't get me wrong, and this is NOT trolling (already saw a senior member accused of that earlier today), but I really do hope that S3 stands alone as the clear winner, and that the boxset is gravy. And no, the other way around won't do, again, they will discredit it as it taking all 3 movies to beat their one.

So in the end, folks, I'm simply saying that this may not be the movie to hold out for to compare to Transformers. And for the record, I would LOVE to be wrong, I just think this needs to be considered.

What is this?! All of the Spiderman movies did better than Transformers in the box office? Cmon.. you mean not 1 but all 3 movies are better than Transformers? They are releasing an exclusive box set of said 3 movies only on blu-ray?! Should I send donation money to Toshiba?, I kinda feel bad o.O.

I agree with you, but you must add the sales of the boxset to the sales of the individual Spider-Man 3 to get a total sold!

Tell them to include the PS3 in the player count and we'll think about it.
also what next: "sorry 80% of the ppl who bought spidey 3 owned ps3's since we don't count them as qualified players, we won't count those spidey 3 movies either "

Spidey's films are the knights for the bluray format. they will inflict a huge damage against HDDVD no matter what.

Spidey 3 hasn't been realeased yet on Blu in the US?

I have it for over a month now...

Transformers was way cooler, but the Spidey movies did much better at the box office in europe.

I haven't seen S3 yet, but I could care less if the movie stinks...I'm hearing great things about the PQ so that should let me be more forgiving. I like the first 2 so I think it's a win for me.

in the boxset you really only want to count spider-man 3...

it's coming out that day as a solo release and the way to look at it is "spider-man 3 was in there and if there wasn't a box set planned, this person would have purchased the single." which is very logical..

unfortunately we are not dealing with logical people...

saying that "it took 3 movies" to beat one in this scenario, because it didn't...

Personally... Im Tru Blu happy that at least the competitors can feel good about one title selling very good for them and i wish them the best of lucks in their race for the next gen format.

I love Spiderman 3 but, i dont think too many people have that inner feeling about (gotta have it at home) in fact some of us are just buying it to help Blu race, on the contrary Trans was everyone's favorite cartoon as a kid and it was the first of the pictures while spidey was the third (some say it wasnt that good and it was the last).

I dont concentrate in a title to win a format war, i just help the cause and focus on many other titles to send the message "Hey Blu really has a wide variety of good titles" ill stick to it and support it.

I think no "ONE" title as big as Trans can stop Blu with all their big hits...
No Trolling around Go Blu...

I don't know if this will be the case or not but I am hoping the sales dwarf what Transformers had done for HD-DVD. I know I have my preorder ready on Amazon for months now.

The sales numbers will be higher just because the Boxset is more expensive than the single movie. We are all forgetting that Pirates 3 did close to in not $1billion at the box office.

well, I've had the spiderman trilogy 2 weeks now! It's an amazing box set, I had to go to three different Gamestop shops in Dublin because they were all sold out, the last place had one set left.

It's being advertised in the newspapers & on the radio. On top of this sony have general blu-ray ad's running on the TV and in the cinema. People who don't know a thing about blu-ray are looking for more info so sony has put flyers in most electronic stores stating if you purchase any blu-ray player you get the spidey trilogy free.

So to summarize, Spidey will top the Hi-def charts worldwide, sendit.com (which mainly sells to the UK & Ireland) has the blu-ray trilogy listed as #1 in the top ten dvd chart. The hi-def market may be tight in the USA but elsewhere blu-ray is really cleaning up.
