FYE has it listed with an August 5, 2008(!) street.

Hopefully that's their idea of a placeholder, ala Amazon's 12/31 dates.

They're doing some kind of additional work on it. It'll probably be released with Starship Troopers 3.

You can buy it from japan now:
http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-...n-70-23y9.html
I am not sure if the soundtrack is english, But I think it is 5.1 PCM. It's in region A (US, Japan, SE Asia). It is a matter of time I am sure before we see it over here.

There was a part 2, not nearly as good as the first - but okay.

I anxiously await the US release of the first... (Sony, are you listening?)

You mean a real sucky one, right? It was one of those scenarios where you think: geez, if you only have a budget of a million dollars (exaggerated) and a bunch of no name actors, why do you feel the need to follow up an epic scale, theater released movie with a low budget, unoriginal sequel? I mean, who is the target audience here?
This has been done numerous times before, but the examples that pop into my head right away are: Species (part 3 and the recently released part 4) and The Arrival (part 2). These particular sequels were horrendously bad.

Well, old Casper "Dear God I need a Job because I'm an awful actor" Van Dien is back in 3, and Jolene "For the love of god new demographic, watch Trek, there's boobies!" Blalock from Enterprise is playing a fleet officer, and it's budgeted at 20 million instead of the 6-7 the 2nd one was

Not saying it'll be good, but there's some of your complaints addressed

One fifth of the original budget, several inflationary years later.

They're not spending more than that on direct-to-video.
