Cheap HD DVD players... who cares? - Blu-ray Forum

Why all the hype for these cheep players?
Do you REALY think that some one that buys these super cheep sub par players will be willing to buy many HD-DVD movies that are 2 to 3 times the cost of DVDs?
Most of the buyers that shop on price will keep buying DVDs as on there setups these will look almost as good as HD-DVD. They will have 720p or 1080i at best no need for HD audio the will play there free movies compare them to there upconverted DVDs and keep buying DVDs.
So I ask once more why care?

Like i've always said...a cheap player is cool but if you don't have any movies to play on it what's the point? Cheap players will not win a format war, movies will. There are other people who say otherwise but look at the numbers Blu-ray players sell as good and in some case better that HD DVD players.
