PlayStation Eye Hands On Review - Blu-ray Forum

I got the camera without Eye of Judgement game, as I really do not see that game going anywhere I want to be lol.

The camera itself is damn good, I have been online with several other friends with the camera, and the difference in resolution between this and the PS2 eye toy is night and day.

When you start to get 4 or more in a chat the resolutions seems to begin to go down sharply although, and pixelation occurs badly.

The mic on the camera works much better than I though it would, and I am not using it as my default MIC for all PS3 games.. it picks up my voice without any echoing or background noises... and I hear people throughout my speakers... I have played poker this way, and graw.. works well.. I have the bluetooth headset, but if this continues to work just another thing I can get rid off.. all I do is talk out in the open and it picks it up damn well.

Sigh... the resolution being so good, can sometimes be a bad thing... my eyes are still burning from the pasty white "moon" shot you gave me, Dez.

Additionally, while resolution does normally drop as more people are added to the chat room, it should be noted that the drop in res and frame rate could also have been due to our host (who, within our little video game community is notorius for having a somewhat poor internet connection.

Sounds awesome.

Did the standalone Eye come out this week too? Amazon has it shipping next week, so I didnt bother going to the store. Which store did you find the lone camera at?

Dez and I both got standalone Playstation Eye cameras. Not sure where Dez picked his up, but in Calgary, Canada I got mine from The Sony Store yesterday (4th St & 13th Ave for any fellow Calgarians that might be interested). They had at least 3 in stock when I bought mine.

I saw the stand alone PS3 Eye at Wal-mart, Best Buy and FutureShop, retailing for $44.99 Cdn

Sony stores in Canada have it for $39.99. It's smaller than I thought it was going to be...which was a good thing. Picked up EOJ since it was only $59.99 at Futureshop and d/l the *free* EyeCreate software from PSN..

everything works as advertised at this point..EOJ had no problem recognizing the cards automatically etc.. those black patterns used for recognition have unique grey symbol markings .. maybe to prevent copying.

..just had an hour or so to scratch the surface today.

I LOVE the effects you can pull off in videos! There are a few Matrix type effects, complete color shifts (to red, blue, green, etc.), and blurring modes.

Clips are converted to MPEG-4 files and exported to your video XMB section, of course. Therefore, they should be able to play on your PSP or be edited by your computer.

Like others have said, the audio pick-up from the Eye is amazing. It picks up sound from a room away!

Everyone should pick the Playstation Eye up!

I'm glad they're using MPEG-4 rather than Motion-JPEG's now.
