I've searched & searched over the last few months. I've ordered the German release as I can't see it releaseing anytime soon. According to amazon the running time is the cut release. I expected an uncut release but i'll check it when it arrives!

Our German cousins do enjoy cutting movies. I hope it's uncut mate. Here's a link saying it's uncut.

106mins isn't uncut!

It's probably uncut by German standards but the running time should be 109mins. Unless the PAL version is sped up

I seem to remember someone stating that some Blu Ray discs have faster or slower speeds than the dvd counterparts?? Something like that but i'm not clued up enough but i'm sure you know?

I hope it is indeed uncut.

If the running time should be 109 it would be still be cut since the film runs approximately 110:25. On PAL DVDs that translates to about 106 minutes, the cut UK DVD was 104:32. Either the reported 106 minute running time for the BD is a clerical error or the disc is 1080i50Hz. We'll know soon enough.

It's rated "16" and it's uncut. As was the DVD that came out in 2007. It was cut back in the VHS days and rated "12" then.

It's usually DVD's, our PAL 50hz DVD's run slightly faster (than 24fps film) so 109 minutes of film would translate to 104 (and a bit) of video (which is the cut running time). Wikipedia says the film is 111 minutes(?), which would be 106 in PAL land.

The corresponding German DVD of HOWARD from a couple of years back, from the same label, was uncut. No reason why this shouldn't be.

That disc info indicates a very healthy bitrate, was sure they would just cram it onto a BD25 and make it 1080i/50hz but nice to see its 1080p/24hz with DTS-HD audio and uncut.

Order placed

I've said that already at post #9. And it is supported by that running time.
But it's also for the folks speculating if it should be 106 or 109 mins long on Blu-ray.

Just went on the German boards and there are captures of both the front and back of the box that boast that it's uncut!

There are also idents for Universal and Marvel on the back, too, so it must be some sort of official license from them. The only thing that could top this is (the eventual) American release from Universal, but even though their DVD had retrospective features that the original German release didn't have, I really don't see their Blu-Ray being better than Koch Media's ; the Universal R1 DVD suffered from audio dropouts and colour timing issues, anyway.

I guess only time will tell.

Howard the Duck cost me roughly £12.89 ; I thought that was a decent price.
