That disc info indicates a very healthy bitrate, was sure they would just cram it onto a BD25 and make it 1080i/50hz but nice to see its 1080p/24hz with DTS-HD audio and uncut.

Just went on the German boards and there are captures of both the front and back of the box that boast that it's uncut!

There are also idents for Universal and Marvel on the back, too, so it must be some sort of official license from them. The only thing that could top this is (the eventual) American release from Universal, but even though their DVD had retrospective features that the original German release didn't have, I really don't see their Blu-Ray being better than Koch Media's ; the Universal R1 DVD suffered from audio dropouts and colour timing issues, anyway.

I guess only time will tell.

I've said that already at post #9. And it is supported by that running time.
But it's also for the folks speculating if it should be 106 or 109 mins long on Blu-ray.

ive placed my order its very cheap I wonder if there are extras on it?

Howard the Duck cost me roughly £12.89 ; I thought that was a decent price.

That is I hope subtitles are not burned onto image...they shouldnt be.

I wouldn't worry too much about burned subs for the film... however the extras might be a different story. Then again, the extra features or on Youtube for all to see, so that isn't a big deal for me.

It's usually DVD's, our PAL 50hz DVD's run slightly faster (than 24fps film) so 109 minutes of film would translate to 104 (and a bit) of video (which is the cut running time). Wikipedia says the film is 111 minutes(?), which would be 106 in PAL land.

The French releases are more likely to have burnt in subtitles. None of the German releases I own or have owned in the past, have had burnt in subtitles. The menu screen tends to be in English too!

For what its worth the Koch Media DVD didn't have burned on subtitles. The only thing that bothered me slightly, was that you had to turn on the English track before starting up the film, otherwise it would go straight into the German dub.

Some play the trailers etc in German with no English track at all & you have to change the audio track for the main movie. It's like a lucky dip lol!

I'll remain optimistic about this... not matter how naively I seem at present .

I shall report back on this as soon as I get it (probably the middle of next week).
