You know, our theater had a big giant cut out board in the lobby. And checking the showtimes, there ain't nothing on this hunk of crap playing here. Our theater decided to get the re-screening of The Avengers and Brave for this weekend.

EDIT: Also, it probably got more business in big city theatres which means there's probably hundreds of smaller theatres that had 0 tickets sold.

I think I was subjected to this trailer when I saw Brave, and I was literally cringing and keeping my eyes screwed tightly shut after the first 15 seconds.

That's how it is at the theatre frequent. I asked the manager last night how it was selling when I was there for my screening, and she told me that they have not sold one ticket for it since it opened.

And as of this morning, it only has one showing.

Although, granted, that's the fallacy of Friday-night numbers for family films--
Sat/Sun weekend business, plus Labor Day, could shoot as high as $57 per theater.

(Also oddly enough, it was Delgo that came up with the idea that a sudden unexpected vacancy by large family-film studio offerings during the end of the school-vacation season could be an open opportunity for an independent small-time third-party studio to become a "sleeper hit" by ramping publicity up to A-level and opening 2000+ wide, only in December instead of August-cleanup.
I can't wait to see the next poor overly-optimistic-shlemiel studio who tries it...How low can the record go before it hits zero?
