Question Who knows the market share numbers?

As far as regular DVD compared to next-gen formats...curious to know how big the gap is.

According to NPD Group, by the end of 2007 hi-def media sales (Blu-ray and HD DVD discs combined) are projected to have 3.5% of the overall home video market. Yeah, the hi-def market is really small.

Thumbs up

Nice av.

Hmm, I imagined it to be actually bigger than that, more like 99 to 1 - well, I feel like the future. Makes you realize that even if the war is won, it wont be mainstream for quite some time. Im not missing out, I want my amazing PQ now, see.

Thanks.

3.5% market share is bigger than 99 to 1, it's 96.5 to 3.5 which is about 28 to 1

I believe the quicker the stores stop selling regular analog TVs the faster the HD market will grow. Big stores like Walmart need to stop selling regular analog TVs (Best Buy said they stopped). So we can all move on.

I went to Walmart to get lightbulbs and decided to see what kind of TVs they carried. I was surprised to see a 32" Bravia, but I was incredibly appalled to see things like a 4:3 27" CRT with VHS & DVD players built in. Dear God, I was horrified to find these things still exist.
