Default JB HIFIs decision to end blu exclusive

I dont know where the guys at the top of JB Hifi are getting there info but they are making some pretty wild claims as to the reason they have changed their stance to now all of a sudden support HD DVD. For those that dont know JB Hifi is one of the biggest electronics retailers in Australia.

They make claims like:

Browning - "The fact that movie houses like Paramount are behind the HD DVD format along with the likes of Universal and DreamWorks is key. I believe that more content providers will get behind the format and that the likes of Microsoft which is a big supporter of the HD DVD format will bring out an Xbox with a built in HD DVD player. This is a given."

Uechtritz - "HD DVD has taken the lead in Europe and the US."

The garbage must filter from the top down. I heard a store person yesterday at my local say that you need to have a HDTV to play HD-DVD and they stocked heaps of them and that you needed a Blu-TV to play blu-ray movies and they had no plans to stock them. WTF??

Yes, this was news a few weeks ago

Toshiba paid them a huge amount to start selling HD DVD so they can get a few sales in Australia. It's nothing to worry about

No he was a regular i have seen the guy planty of times before. He only works in the DVD,CD section. And yes he said you need a blu-tv.

Not sure if it was bad information or if he was just lying. he said a lot of crap to a customer who was about to buy some blu-ray movies. But the customer new what he was doing and put him in his place.

At my local JB they still have all the Blu players available and NO HD-DVD, However this is not supposed to start until Nov, I would have thought they would have started making space. This may backfire as they said they would not be selling $1,000 clocks I assume they will guarentee every player for content.
