Home entertainment agreement will see Shout! Factory distribute ITV Studios Global Entertainment films in North America.

North American distributor Shout! Factory and UK distributor ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) have secured a deal to partner on home entertainment and digital distribution.

The agreement will see an extensive library of acclaimed cinema classics back to the home entertainment marketplace in the US and Canada.

Titles include Sophie’s Choice; On Golden Pond; The Eagle Has Landed; The Last Unicorn; The Tamarind Seed; Capricorn One; The Cassandra Crossing; Brief Encounter; Saturn 3; The Merchant of Venice; Voyage of the Damned and The Boys from Brazil.

Some of these titles have never been available on Blu-ray or DVD. In addition, bonus content is currently in development by Shout! Factory for special editions and double features.

Excellent! There's a BD coming out in Germany, but so much of the film is in foreign languages, and the German disc would not have English subs for only those scenes, you'd have to use the subs running through the whole movie, or endlessly switch them on and off.

Hope they port over the commentary and documentary from the existing DVD.

I'd definitely rebuy for a new HD transfer, such gorgeous photography in this film.

None of the titles that are under ITV's umbrella have been announced for Blu-ray...yet.

So please do not make individual threads for titles that were simply mentioned as owned by ITV.

Thanks.

I'll contact Shout's Cliff MacMillan and ask him for the confirmation...or denial.

I am unsure what is there to deny. A press announcement went in circulation. At the moment, this title is not officially announced for Blu-ray release.

The announcement merely highlights some of the titles owned by ITV. That's all.

A light, breezy film that I can throw in my BD player regardless of mood.

This would indeed be great news to have a domestic (US) version of Sophie's Choice on Blu-Ray!

Shout is wasting no time putting this one on blu.

As per Movies Unlimited, it will be released on blu on November 19th.

Excellent! Even if they just port over the extras on the DVD, that's fine. It had a great commentary and lengthy documentary interviewing all the stars and Pakula.

For some reason, I don't see Shout Factory as a distributor for this kind of film.

I love On Golden Pond and would love to have it. As for Sophie's Choice... I guess I'd go for it. The first time I saw it, I felt like i was punched in the stomach and vowed never to watch it again. The acting is so good though, I'd like to see it on blu.

Devastating, powerful film. The Marvin Hamlisch score is truly haunting, too.
