Experiences and reviews by all of you were useful to me these last few months. So after ordering a new TV, I wanted to do the same thing. I have the space in my living room for a big TV and upgraded my older 65" for a 73". I had some concerns about ordering from the web, but took the chance and purchased from Amazon. The street price for this TV is around $3200 + Tax + Delivery. Amazon has it for around $2600 + NoTax + NoShipping. Wow. I ordered it on a Sunday and by Friday it had moved from Philly to Tampa. The following Tuesday Eagle shipping called me and gave me a time, and showed up on Wednesday exactly on schedule. The guy brought the TV into the house, unpacked it, verified it wasn't damaged and we verified that it worked before he left. So I guess my online fears were unfounded, and allowed me to save close to 1000 dollars. Nice!
The TV: It has an amazing picture, especially with Blu-Ray running at 1080p. The colors are bright and almost 3 dimensional even on that huge screen. I have the BD-P1200 player. Upconverted DVDs look good, but obviously not anywhere near the quality of Blu disks. Some reviews of these TVs made note of the loud fans, but this model seems much better. I can't even hear the fan at all when it's turned on. Even when I turn off the TV and I know the fan is running, I still can't hear it. The one review issue that turned out to be true is that the built in speakers are not very good at all. They seem to have no depth of sound, and people to me sound like they have their hands over their mouth. Very odd decision that they didn't spend a few more dollars for better speakers. The home theater system takes care of the sound very nicely though, and I don't often use the built-in speakers. One issue of note, I ordered a HDMI cable with the TV and it didn't work. I had to buy a higher quality cable. The new TVs automatically detect devices and don't allow you to configure them from the menus, and it with the cheaper cable it wasn't able to properly detect 1080p. The symptom is that the screen blinks off and on continually every few seconds and very rarely syncs. Even with the speaker issue, I would highly recommend this TV. With this excellent purchasing experience and the quality of picture it's a welcomed way to watch movies without spending a fortune. I'll snap a few pics and put them into the home theater message. Regards. |
