![]() ![]() Plot: Tammy (Melissa McCarthy) is having a bad day. She’s totaled her clunker car, gotten fired from her thankless job at a greasy burger joint, and instead of finding comfort at home, finds her husband getting comfortable with the neighbor in her own house. It’s time to take her boom box and book it. The bad news is she’s broke and without wheels. The worse news is her grandma, Pearl (Susan Sarandon), is her only option—with a car, cash, and an itch to see Niagara Falls. Not exactly the escape Tammy had in mind. But on the road, with grandma riding shotgun, it may be just what Tammy needs. Warner Bros. must have a lot of faith in this to release it July 4th weekend. I loved Melissa in Bridesmaids, Identity Thief and The Heat so I can't wait to see this. Last edited by remake; 02-13-2014 at 05:54 AM. |

That trailer was just freaking painful to watch and not the least bit funny.
As soon as I heard the Coolio song I literally went UGH in disgust. Plus what the hell does this have to do with the theme of the movie? This is what the 3rd movie she's played a slob like character? |

My feelings exactly. I don't know why this woman keeps getting work, or why people find her funny, because the last thing she is is funny. She isn't too bad on Mike & Molly, although she's my least favorite character on the show, but in film and when she hosts SNL her characters are all basically the same. It wasn't funny the first time, and it's still not funny now. Give up comedy and focus on something else.

Let's see. Could it be because her movies are very successful? People like her. My best friend thinks she's the funniest actress out there. Pretty much everyone I know finds her hilarious, including me. To each their own I guess. I mean, why does Adam Sandler keep getting work? He's not remotely funny. Not to me anyway. But obviously some people like him.

Why is she dancing like an idiot in the parking lot? Does she hear the Coolio song in her head?
Since they are going for more cerebral comedy this time around, it took me a few seconds to get the joke at the beginning. She couldn't hop over the counter because she's fat. Hilarious. |

I hope this cow of a woman becomes irrelevant so soon. She is not funny. She is obnoxious. The only demographic I can see her being appealing to is women who are past age 45.
Sorry, not trying to be a dick, but The Heat and Identity Thief were some of the most banal, idiotic comedies in years. Last edited by Kaiju; 02-13-2014 at 06:21 AM. |

I'm hoping Kathy Bates has a strong obsession for McCarthy so this film ends swiftly with a sledgehammer.
![]() I'm not the fear mongering kind. But if this film is successful, it'll be the end of human kind all together. Seriously, where's the ****ing wit here?! |

I've liked Melissa McCarthy ever since I saw her in a tiny role in Go (1999) where she managed to make an impression in just a few seconds by being thoroughly offbeat and funny. I'm happy for her that she's finally received the stardom she deserves, but I'm getting tired of the broad comedies she appears in, none of which have been as good as her break out film Bridesmaids. This doesn't appeal to me at all. I hope she gets to show what she can do in a serious role again like she did in the film The Nines (2007) where she played several roles and was very good.
