hi all
i have a denon 5803a which does not support any of the new audio formats but does have 7.1 analog inputs... so im looking for a blu-ray player that with output all the newer formats (trueHD, dtsHD and dtsMA) through analog outputs to mate with my older receiver...please advise |

If you have a PS3 you can send HDMI to the TV for the video and component/or older analog to the receiver for audio.

The best you will be able to get is TrueHD and PCM.....no DTS-MA. That can't be decoded by any player yet so the analog inputs will do you no good there. The Panasonic player can decode True HD and will output it over the analog 7.1 outputs. It will also do PCM over those outputs as well. If you don't want to upgrade your reciever, then the panasonic is probably your best choice! However, the new Samsung BD-P1400 has a 5.1 analog output and can pass DTS-MA (and all others) over bitstream if you ever decide to get a new reciever!

i was actually looking at the Sony BDP-S500... i see it has 5.1 analog outs... what does it do with the 2 surround back.... does it drop them..... i read the owners manual and its confusing... under the truehd and dts-hd it says 5.1... so is it actually internally decoding Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD OR is it only sending them via bitstream and downmixing the 5.1 analog

found this on avsforum.com
Be advised that the upcoming Panasonic DMP-BD30K will not internally decode Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD HR or DTS-HD MA. It will only send them via bitstream to an HDMI 1.3 receiver. |

or By phone: 1-800-211-PANA (7262) send panasonic an email or phone to see if you can get dts-hd & trueHD via analogs. the new panasonic looks the most promising & a good price. |
