What was the first R rated movie you saw at home and/ or in theaters? How old were you at the time? (That answer is optional
![]() My first R rated movie at home was Terminator 2 and I was about 4. Coincidentally my first r rated movie at the movies was Terminator 3. Terminator 2 happens to be my favorite movie ![]() How about you? |

I'll probably struggle to tell you my first proper R-Rated film, since I watched tons of violent stuff on TV, so chances are it might be The Matrix, Commando or Terminator 2.
As for cinema. I did watch Terminator 3 when that was first released, but that's mainly because the dozy BBFC decided to give that a 12A over here. I ended up sneaking into a few comedies when I was 13/14, watching Step Brothers and Pineapple Express, but I think a proper R rated film (rated 18 over here) that I snuck into was Watchmen, Bruno and Inglorious Basterds. |

The first R-rated movie I remember seeing was Revenge of the Nerds when I was 4 or 5 at a friends house. The first R-rated movie I saw in the theater (actually at the drive-in) was a double feature of Lethal Weapon 3 and The Last Boy Scout. Not sure what the first R-rated movie I saw at an actual theater was. I know it was supposed to be Speed when I was 12 but the projector broke during the previews.

I think the first R rated film I seen was geez. That's a hard one. I think it might have been one of those 80's teen sex comedies. I wanna say maybe Porky's or Revenge Of The Nerds. or it could have been the original Robocop film.
I know for sure the first R rated film I saw in theaters was Terminator 2. I was 10 year at the time and my mom took me to see it that summer it came out. |

For me, probably was Robocop. At the time, my mom works for a video distribution warehouse, and my d*ckhead dad would often convince her into taking a video or two, so my first r-rated movie was a screener of Robocop. Ok spoilers for a 27 years old movie, but Murphy's death honestly terrified me at the time.

Possibly Die Hard or Terminator 2 (seems to be the same for most with this one), Total Recall or some other Schwarzeneggar or Nicolas Cage film. I had a TV in my room so I was always up late watching films on Channel 5, especially on a friday

Probably The Terminator or Terminator 2, I can't remember exactly. It might've also been Crank, because I remember my parents took me and my brother to see it and they were shocked when they saw Jason Statham doing cocaine on the bathroom floor

I grew up in Germany where the equivalent rating is an 18 and it was Halloween. I was 15 at the time.
I'd tried a couple of years before to get into Carrie and this being the 70s I wore platform shoes I'd borrowed to look taller, but they saw through my deception and turned me away. ![]() |

I think the first R-rated movie I saw was Rosemary's Baby, in 1968. My father took me to the drive-in and I loved it. It was my first horror movie, and I've been hooked ever since. We used to go see all the John Wayne and Clint Eastwood movies at the drive-in back in the late 60's and early 70's, too. Good times back then.

I think the first one I saw uncut was JAWS at a friends house on HBO. He was the only kid I knew who had cable. I was about 10. One of my favorite movies to this day.
I am pretty sure the first R movie my parents took me to see at the theater was Hopscotch with Walter Matthau when I was about 12. I watched it recently on Netflix for the first time since and couldn't see why it was R rated. If it was released now it would only be PG13. |

It seems like there were lots of movies back in the day that were rated "R", but now are "PG-13" or "PG". Case in point: Barbarella. I saw that at the theater but I could have sworn it was rated "R" back then. Am I totally off-base on that? If it wasn't Barbarella, it was Jaws that was my first "R" rated movie (which is now PG).
