Default Battlefield: Bad Company

There's a thread about the demo and "impressions" and there is one about the game trailer comparison with 360 ... figured we needed a general one that can cover news/info/hype and once released used for general discussion.

So here it is, I will update the first post of this topic with more pics and stuff when I get home from work today. Until then, here is some hints and tips and info, and this will be on-going.

War, your way Battlefield: Bad Company environments are 90 percent destructible, meaning that any structure can be demolished down to its foundation. Gamers can shape the battlefield to match their play style ? the possibilities are literally endless.

New vehicles, weapons and toys: Land, air or sea, dozens of new tools are waiting for explosive experimentation. Battlefield: Bad Company gives gamers the building blocks to get creative and usher in a new era of their own "Battlefield moments".

Frostbite game engine DICE's Frostbite game engine raises the bar for next-gen gaming, with stunning HD graphics that bring characters, vehicles, and environments to life like never before.

Set in the near future, the Battlefield: Bad Company single-player campaign drops gamers behind enemy lines as part of a squad of four soldiers - risking it all to go AWOL on a personal quest. Featuring a dramatic storyline flavoured with attitude, Battlefield: Bad Company leads gamers far from the traditional frontlines on a wild ride with a group of renegade soldiers who decide that sometimes the gratitude of a nation just isn’t enough.

The Battlefield: Bad Company cinematic single-player experience captures the freedom and intensity of the Battlefield series’ multiplayer sandbox gameplay in a dynamic world where nearly everything is destructible. Players have total freedom to be daring and innovative, adapting to and tackling challenges in unexpected Battlefield-style ways. Create sniping positions by blowing out a piece of a wall or drive your tank straight through a small house. The ever-changing battlefield forces players, their teammates and enemies to react accordingly.

The game also features the all new, objective based multiplayer game mode "Gold Rush", supporting 24 players online. Play as attackers and defenders and make full use of the tactical destruction as well as the unique vehicle experience of Battlefield: Bad Company.

Battlefield: Bad Company is the first game built from the ground up for next-generation consoles using DICE’s bleeding-edge Frostbite game engine, delivering unrivalled graphics, effects and gameplay.

Multiplayer Online Modes

2 diff game modes, for multiplayer. Gold Rush and Conquest Mode... Conquest is not complete but will be a free psn store download .

Conquest is like DM in a sense that each team starts with a certain amount of tickets, a ticket is earned by killing an enemy or capturing a spot. first team to have the other team run out of tickets wins. (this has been taken from the BF2 game as they claim to its popularity.)

Gold Rush is what is in the demo, and you are either an attacker or defender. Pretty simple understanding your either attacking to destroy gold boxes or defending from the attackers.

Maps
The retail release will come with eight maps. If BF stays true to the past, they will have tons of downloads in the future (Here's to hoping)

Ascension
A multiplayer map set in a Eastern European mountain village with infantry and light vehicle combat, only one Humvee was available in the beta. One of the smaller maps at 1km x 1km wide. Ascension includes lots of shrubbery and trees for destruction as well as scattered houses throughout the terrain.

Harvest Day
A multiplayer map set in a large open field. This map contains several small villages scattered about, with a small river running through the map.

Oasis
A large multiplayer map set in a Middle Eastern setting. It includes land, air, and sea vehicles. The map has a river running through the center, much of the action in games such as gold rush are concentrated on one side of the maps division. However there are still various buildings and hideouts located on the opposite side of the river. There is limited vegitation in parts of the map however tropical trees are a constant feature.

Valley Run
At the head of a long valley, Russians are expanding and fortifying a dam facility when the US gets wind of the large amounts of gold hidden in the area..

Deconstruction
Water facility captured, the US has a foothold for assaulting the construction area. Girders, pipes, and scaffolding make this a tight, labyrinthine scramble and the fight to take the bridge will be grueling.

Over and Out
Having been pushed out of the plains, the Americans have made off with large amounts of bullion, and are holed up in a captured Russian communication centre.

Final Ignition
The grimy gas facility is in stark contrast to the irrigated town and plantation surrounding it, and the US will have a hard time dislodging the defenders from the fortress like facility

End of the Line
US forces have landed on the windswept plain below the imposing, secluded hilltop monastery, which houses a secret listening station. Before they make their way to the top, they have to get rid of the Russians' vehicle defense

Regular Edition vs. Gold Edition

-

If you preorder the regular edition you can get a code for an ingame sniper rifle which is one of 5 guns you can earn. There are 10 extra weapons for this game 5 are unlockable earns. The other 5 only come with the Gold Edition OR ... Until you reach level 25 the highest rank in the game.

By visiting this link Click Here it tells you how you can earn these 5 unlockables.

1) Sign up for their newsletter
2) Reach rank 4 in the demo
3) Sign up for their site and link ur psn and check "my soldier" stats
4) Pre-order
5) Not announced yet.

The Gold Edition also includes a documentary DVD and a BF:BC keychain. The best deal I have found is via Amazon.com where you get a $10 gift certificate for pre-order.

Hints & Tips

1)You can blow holes in bridges to stop tanks from crossing.
2)Use your knife to break down a fence or door as surprisingly it takes alot more bullets.
3)The plus signs on the map + are soldiers hurt, medics can throw them med packs to heal them. Dont run away from a medic throwing you a med pack lol.

Please feel free to add your hints and tips and I will update.

Some cool info I found in the game...

UPDATE NEWS :

Quote:
Battlefield: Bad Company developer DICE has been listening to all of the feedback from gamers across the globe and has a treat in store for them. Over on the official Bad Company website, EA has confirmed that the game’s first update is in the process of testing and certification.

The first update for Battlefield: Bad Company is coming in the form of The Conquest Pack. This game mode entitled Conquest and is currently going through the testing and certification process. Provided that it passes certification, then it shouldn’t be too long before it is available for gamers to download. However, this is not the only thing that DICE is working on. The following is a list of things that will be investigated for possible future Bad Company updates.

Clan support/private rooms/team chat
Auto balancing on servers
Continued support against stats exploits
VOIP issue on PS3
Squads might be split up when joining a server as a squad. This is due to team balancing in the games that are being joined, and usually resolves itself in round 2.
As always, it is great to see developers listening to gamers and taking their advice on board. Hopefully the issues that are to be investigated will be addressed in future updates. Is there anything else that you’d like DICE to implement in future updates?
Update August 15th 2008 ... CONQUEST MODE IS OUT, has been so for a lil over a week now. Free download patch.

The demo's cool. I'll be picking up the game for sure. Probably not the gold version since the extra stuff doesn't really hold much interest for me.

I will definitely be picking this up. the demo alone has pretty much taken up all my COD4 time. I find COD4 a bit of a bore since this demo came out. Can't wait for the full game next week....GIDDY-UP!

I like the game, but did anyone else think the feel of the game was a bit "off"? I don't know how else to explain it, but hopefully they can make the game a bit smoother... I only played for 10 minutes or so, maybe I need to give it more time. It felt unpolished, and most demos I played don't change much from demo to actual release... especially in a week.

I know how you feel as this is how I felt at first as well. I think that most people are used to the gameflow and appearance of COD4. I think that if you play for a little longer it will start to grow on you. The framerate in respect to the amount of destruction that occurs at times is impressive. The design of the game is a bit different from COD but also impressive nonetheless. The only thing that bothered me at times was the lag but I'm sure this will gradually improve during the first few months after release. See you on the battlefield!

I felt this way when playing the demo. Enough to make me not want to plop down $60 for the full version.

I was never all out for COD4 like most people but i put it in the other day cause i was all hyped up from playing the Battlefield demo. Needless to say i took out COD4 after 20 mins and started playing Battlefield again.

The audio on Battlefield is much better than COD4 IMO.

after roughly 360 hours played in call of duty 4 i now grew tired of it, but
after playing BF: BC on the online-multiplayer mode i was impressed tremendously. First off the destruction in this games is immense and fun, especially with the Abrams M1M1 tank smashing through buildings and trampling those infadel players who try get on its way. Second off-all the sniper rifle to me is the best, especially when shooting those unsuspected rooftop fools who think no one is watching them when all of a suden BAM! a bullet smashes right through their temples like a hammer smashing through peanuts; man that never gets old. Vehicles in BC: BC are plenty with various armored tanks, boats, helicopters, and Humvee's for anyone to indulge them selfs' in. Now their are bad issues comfronting this demo-game such as jaggies and audio problems that can make this demo a flaw. Sometimes, in my case, the lagging is to much of an annoyance that i switch games and play something else and some times it never lags at all, which can be rewarding at times. Otherwise, The audio is great especially when reloading a weapon inside a room in some weary building, and firing a shot from the 50 cal. sniper rifle to some unwary heads of foolish players trying to make a steady kill, but sometimes the audio can shut down for no operant reason and sometimes its pops and keeps poping none stop untill having to restart the game over again. Overal the game is fun, creative, and destructive. It may not have the graphics of COD 4, but it shure kicks ass just as much plus more.ill give this demo a 9 out of 10
