Default Hellraiser: The Scarlet Box (1987-1992) (Limited Edition)

Quote:
US Arrow Video fans! We have an early Christmas gift for you...

NEW US TITLE ANNOUNCEMENT: Hellraiser: The Scarlet Box

Release Date: December 13th - Pre-order links should be live next week!
Region: A

IT WILL TEAR YOUR SOUL APART

Stephen King was once quoted as saying: “I have seen the future of horror… his name is Clive Barker.” That future became reality when, in 1987, Barker unleashed his directorial debut Hellraiser – launching a hit franchise and creating an instant horror icon in the formidable figure of Pinhead.

Barker’s original Hellraiser, based on his novella The Hellbound Heart, follows Kirsty Cotton (Ashley Laurence) as she comes head-to-head with the Cenobites – demonic beings from another realm who are intent on reclaiming the soul of her deviant Uncle Frank.
Picking up immediately after the events of the original Hellraiser, Hellbound: Hellraiser II finds Kirsty detained at a psychiatric institute and under the care of Phillip Channard, a doctor who abuses his position to realise his own dark aims. In Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth, a reporter investigating a mysterious death at a nightclub finds herself in the way of Pinhead and the Cenobites, who plan to bring their horrifying world into our own.
Coming at a time when the genre was degenerating into self-parody, Hellraiser offered a fiercely unique vision that approached its horrors with a far greater degree of seriousness than many of its contemporaries.. Along with its sequels, the Barker-produced Hellbound and Hell on Earth, Arrow Video is proud to present some of the most terrifyingly original films in the history of horror in brand new 2K transfers.

I'll only get excited if it includes ALL of the Hellraiser films and not if this is a clone of the UK set.

Ill take it if it's even only the first three films. Franchise really goes down after that.

It'll tear my soul apart to double-dip on my Starz/Anchor Bay disc of the first Hellraiser movie, but I'll shell out for an Arrow edition.

Of course, I wonder if they could be releasing Rawhead Rex instead. That seems like an Arrow thing to do.

4 and 5 are better films than Hell on Earth so I hope they can outdo their UK release and put out more movies if its a set.

Much preferred if they got a hold of Rawhead Rex, however.. as well as Clive's early short films perhaps to be included?? That would be amazing

True! If they re-release the scarlet boxset over in the US I'll definitely sell off my copy and get that one. Otherwise, I'll just hang onto my UK boxset.

Bought the Region B Scarlet Box, and if it comes here, I'll snag it, too.

I'll bet you paid less for it than whatever it would cost you to buy this release anyway. I almost always import Arrow's UK releases for cheaper than I could get the US releases, except for a handful from the recent B&N 50% off sale with the 40% off coupon (and even then some of them were still cheaper to import).

I bought the non-scarlet box from region B. If they release the Scarlet Box here, I'll perhaps double dip on the set because I wanted the Scarlet Box but missed out on it before it sold out and didn't want to pay the second-hand market price for it.

Very true. I picked it up for around $40 I believe when Arrow had their sale last week. I'll double dip on this IF they do a Region A Scarlet Box, but otherwise I'm good with the UK edition. I'd be surprised if they're able to release part 3 in the US anyway because I believe Lionsgate/Miramax has the rights.

I like cheesy bad horror as much as many, but those Hellraiser sequels after Bloodline are borderline unwatchable. They shouldn't be anywhere near the original 2 Hellraisers

A US version of the Scarlet Box? Hell yeah!

A US version of the Scarlet Box with the addition of the DTV sequels? Even better.

Worst case scenario, this is just a downsized version with the first two films and the box set exclusive disc, but I hope that's not true.
