Of course there won't be any rating problems. It's one of the most hotly anticipated studio films coming out in the next two years. Your question regarding whether it would be "watered down" or not was a good one. Yes, it's Fincher who has shown a propensity to be somewhat edgy, but you never know. The extraordinary appeal of the movie could lead the producers and studio towards a more accessible PG-13 rating. However, that will definitely not be the case, especially in light of Fincher's likely Oscar win, which will give him any additional leverage he may (or may not) have needed.

If its not R I see no reason to see it. The sexual aspects r so interwoven with the plot it would simply gut it. Maybe the new PG-13 Swedish title could be Men Who Find Women Tedious
![]() Im not a big fan of the Swedish adaptation. While they did a good job condensing the very complex mystery down into something that could be told in a two hour movie, I thought they did a lousy job with the two main characters. The first book is Blomkvist's story but ud never know it from the movie. All the personality of his character got reduced to bland detective. Salander, who is the most interesting character, got featured and Rapace did do quality work. Unfortunately, she so physically wrong for the part its distracting. The writers here seemed to completely miss the point of the character. Here's hoping the Fincher version outshines the previous version and does the book justice. |

The thing which gets me is that he more and more looks like a contract director which Coppola turned into in the nineties ![]() |

The posts for the remake should go under this thread.
I saw the trailer/teaser today for this, and my god, the music in it was absolutely TERRIBLE. It was a remix of "Immigrant Song" that did NOT fit at all with the movie. I really hope the teaser disappears soon, because it really sickens me. I was going to give this unnecessary remake a go because Fincher was at the helm, but if he was at all involved with this promo, then that's a bad omen... This is not a trailer, it's a teaser, meant to whet appetites for the movie. Actual trailers will be out closer to the December release date, the first probably being in September/October.
