This one has to be mine. I saw Xmen in this theater and it became my Superhero theater. When I saw Xmen at one point the film came off center and you could see the audio track lol

The theater I grew up watching movies in is now (apparently) a playhouse. It's been heavily renovated, but the basic arrangement is similar. I'd say it's my favorite theater I've ever watched a movie in, even though it's been probably close to twenty years since I last saw a movie there.

I have a real soft spot for the Redford Theatre in Detroit.
![]() http://redfordtheatre.com/ They never play anything new, only older films, and tickets are only $5 a piece. The theater runs entirely on donations, and they often secure 35mm prints of every film they show. They only just now added a digital projector, bless their souls. ![]() They often arrange special attractions for films they select. Above is an image of a replica Delorian they brought in for Back to the Future. They had Detroit Tigers on stage for Field of Dreams, and when I saw It's A Wonderful Life, Karolyn Grimes was a guest speaker and talked about what memory she had of being in the film. ![]() My favorite feature though has to be this organ. No matter when you go, there is always somebody playing this organ before the film, and during intermission. Yes, at the Redford Theatre, EVERY film has an intermission. It's so old school, just like the seating. Even the candy, soda, and popcorn are insanely cheap! I just love this theater to bits. I'd wish they'd start showing the latest independent films like most local theater chains do, but there's something special about their unique business model. It's such a beautiful theater too. ![]() |

I just go to my local Regal, which isn't the greatest theater ever but is decent and gets the job done. Never really been to any fancy theaters like some of these posted. But my favorite I ever went to, when I was a kid, was Cinema 150 in San Jose, California. Sadly closed in the early-90s and since demolished.
It's where I saw Return of the Jedi when I was four-and-a-half years old. Years later, my parents took my little brother and I there to see the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It was first thing on a Sunday morning after it had already been out for awhile and the theater was completely empty. We had the entire auditorium to ourselves and it was so cool as a kid. Quote:

I haven't got a favourite cinema but I do make a point of visiting cinemas when I'm on holiday
Although I did go to the Empire Leicester Square IMAX screen recently ,costs £22.50 to get in (around $30) but well worth it. It's an actual iMax screen as opposed to the iMax small version like at the AMC universal studios or various others around the uk Love old cinemas decor, the newer multiplexes have no character and are like visiting a mall, all the same just different names. |

Reading Cinemas in Queenstown, New Zealand. I've only been there once and that was in 2008. Here are some pics:
To be honest, the whole city has a real cool vibe. ![]() ![]() A "local" theater that I like in Minneapolis is St. Anthony Main. ![]() Last edited by zorbonaut; 06-16-2016 at 07:09 PM. |

My options are sorta limited. So I go to Regal Cinemas. They just put in an RPX a few years ago. I've been going to this theater for nearly 20 years. Since 1997. It's grown over the years. Adding more theaters and remodeling's.

My favorite growing up was grand lake theater in Oakland CA. Always loved the interior which was different than every other theater i went to. You can see pics here.
On the weekends they had an organ player which played before the main shows. Don't know what it looks like now I dont live in the bay area anymore. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Granted, how often I actually see a film here is pretty damn rare. I think the last movie I saw there was Gone With the Wind -- and that was something! But every once in a while I do make it down there. And I always wear a suit. I can't help it. ![]() It's just so beautiful. |

This is really tough, especially since we are in a time where I dislike going to theaters more and more.
Growing up it was always Marcus Bay Park Cinema in Green Bay. Through high school it is where I saw 90% of movies in the theater. I even worked there for two years and I started dating my now wife when we worked together and our first date was a movie playing there. It’ll always have a special place in my heart. But it was recently renovated and it doesn’t feel like the theater of my youth. And it gets crowded fast During college in Chicago I spent many weekends at the AMC River East. It had such great pseudo grandeur. My favorite movie going experience ever was meeting Hugh Jackman at the midnight showing of X-men Origins Wolverine. If I recall correctly some theaters could Be pretty tiny which bugged me, but it happens with every theater. I spent 18 months going to the Carmike in Manitowoc. It was brand new and I really enjoyed it. The theater is what I missed most when I moved away lol My go to for the last few years is the Marcus Valley Grand in east Appleton. All recliners (even if I do have issues with them from an analytical view), some nice big screens, $5 Tuesday tickets, and less chaotic than Bay Park. Biggest program is the pq doesn’t always look the greatest and they’ve given up on matte-ing the screens |

AMC Lincoln Square 13, specifically the IMAX. I made the six hour trip last summer for the opening night of Dunkirk 70mm IMAX, and I'm making the trip again this weekend for the 10th Anniversary of The Dark Knight in 70mm IMAX.
