The Fox titles will hurt the most. I couldn't give a rats ash about Pirates. Still a solid lineup that will sway many.

I really enjoyed Pirates 3 and know plenty of others that did as well.

Do you mean pain for Blu-Ray or HD-DVD?

Honestly, the title I want most on that list is BSG: Season 1 (sadly, I can't being HD-DVD only), then PotC 3 in second (which I have pre-ordered), and the dual-format Queen disc coming in third.

Yeah, I suppose there are people salivating for the utter brain-dead nonsense of ID4, the pointless sequel T3, the dull Mr. and Mrs. Smith (maybe it gets better after the first 15 minutes), and the raunch-fest of Superbad, but they don't do much for me.

Will be a big week for BD for sure.

Pirates 3 didn't suck. It was actually better than Pirates 2 where things just got completely campy and stupid. I think the reason people have said 2 & 3 sucked is because, frankly, they didn't follow the same writing style and originality of the first film, but rather relied more heavily on re-canned witty lines from the first film. Pirates 2 certainly did this more than 3 which is why I personally feel 3 was a bit better as well as the fact that it was darker and richer (except for the way too long ultra white part).

i predicted 84:16 a while back, but yeah, its going to be a massacre, hence my signature. btw im sticking with 84:16 but voted for 85:15. However, im giong to up it to 78:22 if they decide to have a BOGO that week. Itll be hilarious toshiba will pay big bucks for a BOGO to lose by over 3:1. This is the week warner looks at blu-ray and goes whoa!

Will it be a good week for Blu-ray? Absolutely.

Will it be a format winner decider? Hard to tell. Any studio could pull a "Paramount" out of nowhere and change the playing field.

Again.

But I'm actually hopeful and optimistic that the Blu-ray will emerge victorious during early next year.

You should care about pirates on blu-ray (Not liking it), but if pirates 1 and 2 are still selling good now what will pirates 3 do, and that would boost the sales of the first 2.

By December 4th we'll have a £399 PS3, a £399 BDP-S300 with free Spiderman Trilogy, a Profile 1.1 player, a great advertisment campain, maybe Weinstien going neutral and some top titles to back it all up with.

More of a personal opinion than what I think will be the big hit for that week. I'm not delusional, it's just that Pirates never really did much for me at the theater.

Castaway, Independence Day vs. BG is all I really see for me personally. No doubt I will have made a decision by Christmas.

I cringe when I see people say, "well I didn't like this film" and arguing how it will not sell well because such. Bad logic.

You have to see its fanbase.

BG is a big one for HD DVD and will probably be as big as the Heroes release. Take that how you will.

The BD catalog titles are strong catalog titles and will make a small blip but PotC and Superbad are going to sell extremely well.

BD will have a strong week. I don't see it possibly go under 75:25 unless the landscape changes to HD DVD before then.

I think despite the kick of 50k HDDVD players in the market the strength of these movies will make for big sales.

the best selling title in the list will be world end, which according to amazon presale ranks, calibrated for time to release day against equivalent transformers presales, is doing somewhat worse but not considerably. Give then christmas season and 400 dollar ps3 boost I think worlds end could get up to 150k first week.

Thus i will put my guess in the 70's, not sure whether low or high.
