My answer is no. The only reason I whole-heatedly believe it won is because of its political history (which also happens to be based on non fiction) and because it was a nod to Affleck's contribution to the film industry. I liked that it won for the second reason but ultimately there were just better films that came out in 2012.

Silver Linings was much better deserving IMO. Also how The Master didn't get a nom is beyond me.

Argo was definitely worthy of winning best picture, but there were several more films that could have one won Best Picture just as easily, IMO. Unfortunately, There Can Be Only One.

No, I can see why the academy went for it though it showed Hollywood in a positive light. I thought Zero Dark Thirty deserved to win but a lot of the time the academy goes for the more up beat film, you just need to look back to 1990 when Dances with Wolves won over Goodfellas.

No. 30 years from now I doubt Argo will be held in high regard or be discussed like other films from 2012 like The Master, Django Unchained, and Amour.

An entertaining film despite its historical inaccuracies. But no best picture.

Yep, though I feel most of the 2010s winners will not be remembered as much as their nominees. Argo is my favorite of the 2010 winners so far. Out of the 2012 nominees I would have gone for Zero Dark Thirty, but The Master wins in my book. I'm just glad Les Miserables or Lincoln didn't win

Yeah. It's almost like it was the majority winner out of a large group of people who have different qualifications/reasoning about film and what 'Best Picture' is. I'm always super surprised when it isn't the same thing I pick.

Threads like these are dumb. It's basically just another thread to say what your favorite movie of the year was, or favorite of the nods.

Oh well excuse me i apologize if it's not up to your standards. It's just a simple question that's all. It was my first time watching the movie tonight and wanted to get people opinion that's all. I'm sorry that it bothers you

Django, Life of Pi or Amour should have won (since The Master wasn't nominated). Silver Linings Playbook did not deserve its nomination (it's a generic romantic comedy that got lucky).
