Default How low can HD-DUD users go.

I'm a member of CircuitCity forums. There a great resource for customers of CC to get help with products there thinking of buying or already purchased from CC.
Anyway there's a couple customers in the CC (Video source) forums chatting about the Toshiba cheapo.
I then give them info on the difference between Blu-Ray and HDUD and why the player is selling so cheap....Then a HDUD jerk-off member starts pushing the 99 player deal talking about Walmart Pricing players so low to give customers a good deal with link to walmart info. How very sad of Mr Hdud to bring Walmart into CC help forums. What a sad format to shrink so low.

Oh...I forgot
He was pushing there was no differences between 1080i and 1080p 24fps as well...Freaking amazing man.

And what did you expect from hd dvd fanboys? When you talk about them there are 2 things you can eliminate from any conversion, class and common sense

I just read that thread and it's pretty obvious you replied in that thread with the sole purpose of promoting Blu-ray over HD-DVD which was unnecessary. In that thread you said "No format wars here at CC Forums..." but that's exactly what you started. Practice what you preach....

Here's the thread by the way - HERE

I'll promote Blu-ray whenever I can but sometimes you have to pick your battles and that thread wasn't one of them...

What do you expect the general public to think? that the movies they see for themselves on the demo units in the store look bad because you tell them so. I was at futureshop tonite and there was a crowd around a $4900.00 52" led tv that boasted 500 000 to 1 contrast ratio playing Transformers on the Toshiba HD-A30. It looked awsome they were talking with the salesman who told them about it only being on hddvd.
If you really want to help Blu-ray win this thing you better get a job at Bestbuy or some othe retailer so you can take the Hdmi cable off of the hddvd player and replace them with composite, because the general public can see that hddvd looks good on a Hdtv no matter what we all say on the internet.

True True but I had no idea it could get to the point were he would push 1080i to be the same as 1080p 24fps...He was selling the Toshiba 99 Dollar junk player from a different store.

Lets break it down. The no format war statement was made to keep clash to a low in CC forums and give BR facts.Think before you post.

All I'm saying is you said you didn't want to start a format war debate but then you said...."The format is holding on by a thread due to lack of studio support and that's no going to change." It's like you took his post as a personal insult and replied accordingly. You did the exact same thing you're calling the HD DVD backer "low" for.

There are a lot of guys running around saying there is no difference between 1080i and 1080p.You hear it alot over at aint it cool news. When I switch my bdps300 back and forth between i and p I sure can see the difference 1080i is softer and 1080p is much sharper with less shimmer.

Was I misleading?..No
He took fact as threat .I was letting the consumer know facts...Were there sticking money..Very simple.
Then he get dumb enough to bring walmart into forum and start 1080i nonsense .I gave facts and he went low with bull.
CC forums is not the playground for such conversion and I feel pretty bad about it but man oh man..It could not be helped .I will apologize to Doug- the moderator over there. Hes a great guy and it does not belong in his forums.

Looks like the guy was pretty civil and didn't say anything like that. His reply:

Quote:
Also, I do hope that you know that 70-80% of all High Definition TV's are not 1080p capable. Therefore, the HD-A2 works just fine even though it is "only" 1080i. Also, I do hope that you know that the difference between 1080i and 1080p is minimal. If you have a 1080p display, it will deinterlace the 1080i signal into 1080p, thus making that whole issue moot. The 24fps issue is not that big of a deal. It reduces motion judder, that's all.
Sounds like you're over reacting.

That would be the way your reading it.<Correction> That would be lack of reading through forum. You would find that his reference to 1080i being = 1080p 24fps was one of his reasons to go with Toshibas hd-dud player because there was no diffrence. My response was a built up on prior post of his on that subject. Now that I'm done explaining my post I gave mod at CC a PM and let him know what happened and that I was deleting all my post on Blu-Ray/Hd-dvd subject because It didn't belong in his forum.

Update
The PM I sent my friend [downunder] at CC forums

Hello my Friend.I deleted all my post that had anything to do with BR and HD-DVD debate we were having for there would have been no winner.Your mention of walmart in a CC forum made my delete decision a easy one.
I suggest you do the same for CC members as well.

Thanks
Phil C

More then likely he wont delete his post.He made a couple reference to Toshiba Hdud in either threads so he was pushing crash and burn format under his breath before and during are debate in the wrong playground
