Yes, I've been waiting for this on Blu but thought this may be too obscure to get a release. It's a lovely homage to 50s alien invasion films with a touch of Hitchcock's North by Northwest. I never understood why this never became more of a cult film. It looks beautiful, has a great cast and it has several smart ideas, like when

[Show spoiler]the aliens take over the bodies of the inhabitants of a small town, because they don't understand fashion, three decades later the whole place is still stuck in the 50s.

I remember the name, and the trailer brings back faint memories, but other than that, I can't recall anything else about it.

Would have been nice if someone like Arrow would have gotten their hands on this, ideally together with the film's companion piece Strange Behaviour which for some reason has been released on Blu under its New Zealand title Dead Kids by Severin. There would be plenty of interesting people to interview for extras.

Michael Laughlin and (the now very successful) Bill Condon had planned a "Strange..." trilogy, but unfortunately when this one failed to drum up much business, the third film was cancelled.

The films were only thematically connected by being homages to 50s science fiction films. Strange Behaviour was a mad scientist film, Strange Invaders was an alien invasion film.

As so often he Razzies got it wrong by nominating Diana Scarwid for worst supporting performance and further damaging a film which was supposed to have a retro B-movie vibe. She is actually very good in the film and

[Show spoiler]her performance is strange on purpose as it turns out that she plays an alien in human disguise.

There is a thread for it, go there. I find it a little sad that hardly anybody knows or gets excited over this little gem getting a release and instead everybody goes gaga for the gazillionth time Bronson cashed in on his Death Wish fame with a poor Dirty Harry clone.

This movie is always on MGM HD. I love the look of the film, it has this certain soft focus glow to it and really fits in with other 80's b-movies like Night of the Comet and Zone Troopers.

Wow, just found out about this, always liked this seemingly almost forgotten flick - a very nicely judged 50s alien invasion genre homage - spot on in tone and detail.
Deffo purchase for me.
The new cover art is nice but the alien hand/shadow poster above is my favourite.
