Default Do you keep or toss the part of the packaging that is stuck on with rubber cement?

You know, the paper/cardboard they attach to some sets (mostly TV shows and big box sets). I used to just leave that stuff stuck to the back of the box, but now I always peel it off because it gets wet after awhile. Throwing it away feels like throwing away part of the packaging though, so I just let them all pile up in the closet.

(This is just a small portion. lol)

I remove the paper...but remove the cement...I then carefully fold it in half and put it inside the case...

I threw them away for years, though recently I started keeping them just for the list of special features.

I recycle everything that is made of paper or cardboard... including slipcovers, information cards, and inserts. Before anything goes on my shelf, it is just the Blu-ray discs (no DVDs), the case itself, and the cover art!

I paused after reading the part in bold... thinking "Wow, even the cover art?! That is hardcore."

Then I read the rest

I put each one in a laminate pouch and have them professionally sealed in such a way that they can be eternally protected but can also be later removed completely without damage. I keep them organized in a binder inside a fire-proof safe two stories underground, and I also keep 600x600dpi color scans and copies both digitally and in hard-copy form at various off-site locations.

Can't be too careful!

(Kidding, I toss them, of course...)

That's usually what I do. I try and figure out a way to store them within the packaging (case, box, etc.).

I keep them.

Very handy if you want to sell them - especially since the barcode is on the "throwaway" part.

I keep it if there is a chance that I will sell the BD/box set.

Default Cool Thread

I feel better knowing that others 'struggle' with this. I've been keeping everything.
Now that I've read thru the posts, I think I will throw away the J-cards but just keep the slipcovers, since it stays on it's own.
If the J-cards didn't keep slipping and being messy, I'd keep it. Thinking back, I'd realized that I hardly looked at the extra packaging that came with the DVDs I used to collect.
The reason I kept the extra stuff was that I felt like I paid for them, it's part of the packaging and throwing away would be wrong.

yes, that's what I do too.

I also keep all inserts even those that have UV codes that have expired!
I don't know, but my ocd doesn't permit me to toss anything!

I put them in the recycling bin.

I'm saving the planet, one Blu-ray box set at a time.

Why does it get wet in the first place? Just curious

The dots end up gooey after long periods of time and cause little greasy spots on the paper and case.
