I've only watched 1 & 3 so far. I thought the PQ/AQ was really good on 1 and great on 3. Anyone know if a Spiderman 4 is in the works?

James Vanderbilt who recently worked on the screenplay for Zodiac is writing one for Spider-Man 4. Whether it will happen or not is unknown but they ARE working to making one at this point.

I saw a post somewhere with a lnk to an interview with Raimi and he said he is awaiting to see a script for Spiderman 4 before he decides on what he wants to do. He as well as the actors have said they would only return if the script was good and if everyone else returned. But only time will tell here.

Sony wants him back but after that whole Venom fiasco who knows if he wants to even come back. Time will tell. I know they hired Vanderbilt to keep the story character driven and not some big dumb action movie and they are aiming for 2 villains.

There was an early rumor I remember for a possible spidey 4 is that one of the characters that died actually did not and may return in for more. That was about a week before Spidey 3 hit theatres though. I think i read it on IGN.

The Spider-Man franchise will continue with or without Tobey it is just a cold hard fact...it makes them too much money. You know what is hilarious? I actually picked my replacement for Spider-Man and you know who it was? Topher Grace. This was months before he was announced as Venom.

Anything is possible. In the comics Norman Osborn came back from the dead I think the Goblin serum acted like a regenerator. And Doc Ock could easily come back. Hell even Venom could.

What he said, and with or without Raimi

If they would just stop trying to cram so much crap into one movie they would be so much better off. They are in danger of doing to Spiderman what they did to the Batman franchise the first go round.

NEws just came out today and I quote:

October 30, 2007 — According to EW, James Vanderbilt, the writer behind David Fincher's gritty thriller Zodiac, has been hired to pen the script for the new Spidey installment. It's unknown whether Sam Raimi will direct the four-quel, but he's likely to be involved in some way. The studio is scheduling the film for a 2009 release.

good news for spidey fans

2009 seems too soon, especially when there's no script or cast members yet.

I think they should just use Venom for the fourth Spiderman with a hell of a script.I mean alot of the fans were disapointed to see Venom and die in like 5 minutes of the movie. As a Spiderman fan myself ever since Spiderman 1 came out i was waiting for Venom/or Carnage to appear in the movie.Im pretty sure if the script is right they will all do at least 1 more movie for sure and probably ending the Spidy movies in a high note.

Basically, Sony is hoping to turn Spider-Man into a series of movies like MGM's James Bond 007 series.

well when each spider-man movie makes $300-400 million domestically at the box office,it's hard to stop making them since rich people are never rich enough.

Yeah. That's what capitalism is all about. They want to capitalize on the Spider-Man franchise.
