Talking Starhawk – Free Map Pack DLC Released

http://www.starhawkthegame.com

Design Overview [MP4] | E3 2011 CG Trailer [MP4]

From the creators of Warhawk comes a bold new 3rd Person shooter adventure where you can change the battlefield instantly in the heat of combat.

In the future, humanity’s last hope lies in the lawless frontier of space where factions battle over the universe’s most precious resource, Rift Energy. Caught in the middle is Emmett Graves, an outcast gunslinger who is drawn back to the planet that abandoned him, to face a fierce outlaw and his warband of followers.

Experience intense frenetic combat on foot, in vehicles, or in the air and discover a new type of shooter gameplay with the new “Build & Battle” system. Gain the tactical advantage by calling upon an arsenal of weapons, vehicles, and fortifications, violently delivered from an orbiting drop ship to help turn the tide of battle.

Engage in epic 32 player online battles and see maps dynamically change depending completely on each player’s strategy or team up with friends and protect your claim against waves of AI opponents in online and offline Co-op modes.

FEATURES
  • Intense Air, Ground, and Vehicular Combat – Experience action-packed run and gun gameplay on foot or pilot vehicles for an incredible range of combat.
  • New Build & Battle System – Change the battlefield to your advantage and call down equipment, vehicles and fortifications instantly from an orbiting drop ship.
  • Full Single Player Campaign and Co-op Modes – Bring justice to the lawless frontier of space as outcast gunslinger Emmett Graves or team up with friends in 1-4 online or offline player co-op mode.
  • Epic 32 Online Multiplayer Battles – Engage opponents via multiple maps spanning various unique worlds.
  • Fully Leverages PlayStation 3 – Starhawk’s breadth of gameplay that spans multiple modes (air, ground, vehicular), as well as the innovative Build & Battle system can only be done seamlessly, without pause, on PS3.
  • Dogfighting in Space – Starhawk’s solo and online multiplayer campaign will include space flight gameplay (picture fighting through massive space stations and asteroids), in addition to the action-packed run and gun ground combat on foot or in different vehicles.
  • Community Features – Player hosted tournaments, leaderboards, and clan support with additional friends list and quick match features. Users can also keep up to date with the community events calendar, ticker tape updates, and a Starhawk Android app that will allow users to keep track of friends, clan mates, and stats when not online.

I like the sounds of that. Trademark applications are always promising.

Previous rumour about Warhawk in Space.

Quote:
Informed sources tell Kotaku that newly minted LightBox Interactive Studio, made up of members of Incognito, are hard at work on a new take on Warhawk.

The game, described as Warhawk in space, has been in development for some time, we're told.

Reached for comment this morning, Dylan Jobe, president of LightBox Interactive Studio, had this to say:

"We're incredibly happy to continue working with Sony Computer Entertainment America and World Wide Studios. We've got a great relationship with them and I'm really proud of our new partnership. With regard to the inevitable "What are you guys working on?"... It's way too early to comment on anything but I can say that we have some really exciting stuff in development that our Warhawk fans *and* new players will love."

Woohoo! If so this will be by far my most anticipated game of 2010 (or...perhaps 2009???)

I think they'd be better off keeping this one for 2010 if MAG releases this year.

Yeah, definitely 2010. I can't wait if it is actually a Warhawk sequel of some sorts.

Warhawk is still one of my favorite MP games of all time and definitely my favorite on the PS3

There are so many games coming out this year I would have no problem with this one coming in 2010, but once I start hearing about this game more, it's likely (hopefully) going to be my most anticipated game.

Default Starhawk

Last week, Sony filed a trademark on the name "Starhawk," leading many to believe the company is working on a space-based sequel to multiplayer PS3 flight-combat game Warhawk.

Unnamed sources told Kotaku last months that LightBox Interactive Studio was working on a game described as "Warhawk in space," and that the game has been in development for some time. So it's looking like Warhawk in space is coming at some point in the future.

Personally, I can't wait. Massive spaceship battles seems like the perfect evolution for Warhawk, and as long as they tighten up the controls a bit, it could be a very, very impressive demonstration of the PlayStation 3's power. Bring it.

Warhawk's greatest weakness for me was the on-foot shooting, the rifle, pistol were too reliant on auto-aim so I also hope they tune the controls to let you be in accurate, comfortable control of your shots all the time.

IMO Warhawk is one of the best games this generation. I dont know why.

Also support from the devs has been top notch.

Ya the auto-aim was pretty weak, but I loved the game for the vehicles especially warhawks. That was soo fun.
I hope they don't make the trophies/ranks so ridiculously unattainable this time around though. I logged over 300 hours in this game and I still wasn't anywhere near the required 275,000 points (I think I had around 80,000)...

Word.

Funny how a simple thing like rank can be such a crazy "issue." Warhawk was a HUGE amount of playing time to get to the top, and I hated it. Killzone is like 7 hours, and I hated it

Not having special weapons and such tied to rank made the rank less of an issue for me, though.

This is why I say I dont know why I played it so much for so long. Crazy ranking system. No classes. No skill when aiming. N00b campers galore. Just something about it was addicting.

A second Warhawk in this economy would be horrible. I would get fired for not showing up for SURE!

Haha, same with me! I always complained about those very things, but in the end I was so addicted to that game. I was barely able to finish the CoD4 single player when it came out I liked Warhawk so much. Never touched CoD4 after that lol.

I swear I have a love-hate relationship with Warhawk.
At first I loved it, then I sold it off cause I disliked it.
Then I bought it back again cause I liked it, then I traded it in cause I disliked it.

I think it's one of those games where you either REALLY like it, or REALLY dislike it. No in between. lol

I love Warhawk, I think because it's on the hard drive it's so easy to dip in and out of. I still play pretty regularly although I've found there are fewer and fewer games going these days; not surprising with so much online choice now.

But Warhawk is always a reliable bit of fun; exactly what it set out to be.

If there is a space based sequel on the way I'll definitely pick it up though I would expect it to be similar to SW Battlefront space based combat where you can land on the enemy ship/base and run around causing all sorts of havoc, as well as dog fight in space.
