Default So - What makes your Home Theater unique? Whats your trademark?

In our home theaters, I'm sure we each have those little things we've done to it ourself that no one else has. Not so much equipment - but little extras that add a little bit of our persona into our theaters. For example, I've got my deranged lighting systems - the IKEA strip lighting behind the speakers and TV, the rope lighting under the couch, and the strobe light by the bar, all wirelessly controlled - since I love to have people over before going out, I want to replicate that club atmosphere here.

Or maybe what I've never seen anywhere else - my crazy old acoustical columns that flank by TV and frame my wall. Curse my architect's training! I just HAD to shape them like doric columns, lol. Sure, they're more aesthetic now than actually acoustic...lol.

So - what makes your home theater...well, yours? I can think of a few - John (Beta) has that bathroom of his theater - Brent (Craz) is a wall-treatment nut, - liquid is the mad scientist, toying with everything he possibly can - my dear friend Louie has his Star Wars figures all over the place - some of you have memorabilia and posters...what's yours??

Good thread this one, I look forward to seeing what everyone else thinks.

As for the topic.. I'm not sure what makes my little home theater stand out from the rest, since most of the little unique things are idea's that I have taken from this site I really like the IKEA lights behind the tv/speakers. I haven't seen any of my friends or anyone i know for that fact to have them. It's always a good talking point when friends come over.

The one thing that I really enjoy is the fact that it's pretty much a man cave When friends come over we all hang in there and chill - close the door and the girl is happy doing whatever she does.

I've seen Many people using Foam (JJ, CrazyBLUE, to name but 2), but I believe I've not seen anyone take the Aesthetics up a notch with Covering (IMO) the "blah" factor inherent with foam itself. JJ has his foam set up more Aesthetically than Acoustically he says, & it Does look very nice. Our friend CrazyBLUE ("Wall Treatment NUT") has more foam/foam panels, Hanging Foam, than Most, & i'm sure it Does sound as Amazing as he says. But to me, after a few weeks, I just wasn't "feeling it" visually with the foam. Btw, though in the pictures (in my JUNE 09' Gallery) it looks like a very light purple color, & it does in person, I was told by The Foam Factory people that it would turn Beige (the color I ordered) after a few weeks exposed in the light.

Even still, I had to do something. So you can see the results in the pic below, & in a couple others near the end of my June 2009 Gallery. In the photo, I have 2 pieces on either side of the window, 1 above the other, though it looks like 1 Large piece, they're just Very close together. I think it looks nicer that way. (I'm sure Some with not like the design of the Fabric, but whatever. Lol. That's Not the point here).

NOTE: I Finished Covering ALL the Foam you see in the pics last week. Those pics will be posted soon as well, and I'm toying with getting another box (1 dz, 24x24x1" panels) to add to my HT room. I may use the Same fabric covering or change it up a bit to offset it all being One Design.

There's nothing special about mine, so I'll just say that my wife the ex-Clipper girl and ex-Laker girl teacher sits in it from time to time.

I don't think my setup is unique at all. In fact, it borders on the boring in many regards, you know...your basic TV stand with companants below it. If there is anything unique about it in my case I would have to say my Totem speakers. I think I'm the only guy on here that has them!

What makes my home theater unique? A 10.4 speaker system, 4 external amplifiers (a 6-channel, and three 2-channel) with mucho power, and my buddies, the jazz players.

Don't you dare telling me that 10.4 is an incorrect way of describing 10 speakers and 4 subwoofers.

Until I get my projector mounted, it is currently sitting on top of three evenly spaced boxes of shotgun shells, which sit on the AVR. I wanted a way to have my projector above my AVR, but still have plenty of airflow.

As far as I know, I am the only guy in town with a 120" screen and a setup that includes live ammunition for both function and fashion.

And no, there is nowhere near enough heat generated for an accidental "cook off".

when i get around to building it (hopefully this fall/winter) i'll have a bar that has a bottle cap top on it. something like this:

i'm hoping i have enough caps to be able to do this w/the piece that sits behind the bar that holds the liquor bottles as well.

Also, my speakers (JBL stadium, 3-way double 8-inch woofer) match all the other crap in my room... silver & black.
Need Pics!
