Default Transformer is not number 1 in Amazon Japan

Sales of October 2007 from Amazon Japan:
http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/av/docs/bdhdship/

Transformer can't beat 7 BD titles (although it's not released yet), including spider man

only 1 HD DVD, no CD and DVD in top 20. The rest of them are BDs

I see a lot of Anime titles coming up

Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Cowboy Bebop, Mobile Suit Gundam...Woot!

I stumbled across this image while at that site. The Japanese always knew how to market to us fanboys.

The charts haven't been updated since September (they're afraid of the truth, perhaps?)... Plus there's a bunch of "HD Remaster" anime DVDs shown in the HD DVD section (they're just DVDs with a new remaster done in HD rez and not actual HD DVDs).

Scared me for a sec when I saw what looked like Macross DYRL being released on DUD... I still wouldn't buy a player for it, though.

They don't update those other sections much. I believe the last time it got updated was when I sent a message asking if they would please update the Japanese charts. As far as Transformers, it looks like it doesn't come out until December 14th, but is doing better for DVD ranking than I would have expected given that it didn't really do all that well at the box office in Japan, compared to how well it did in the US.

Fujii-san officially admitted that the number of HD DVD player/recorders is less than 10,000 (maybe far less than 10,000), and it is said that cumulative sales of titles is approx. 25,000 units as of July 2007 and average sold per title is around 120-130 copies.

At least in Japan, there have been no format war, HD DVD was already dead, period. Why anybody would care of it?

I know for a fact that many Japanese mail order places are selling more HD DVDs to foreigners than domestic

Whatever happened to Akira anyway? It has been pulled for a while now.

Not available for order

That's just a release list for HDM - it doesn't show any sales numbers.

As far as Akira goes, it's delayed with no new date. Presumably they'll resolicit it once they've worked out whatever issue they have with it.

i don't think it's for HDM only, because last month, there was some CD and DVD on the list

I really wish they'd restore the 70mm of Akira and show it in IMAX or whatever

They shot the film twice like Lady and the tramp with different backgrounds and framings

Got a source for that? I'm not a huge Akira fan but everything I remember seeing about it said that it was originally filmed at either 65mm or 70mm and then the 35mm prints were made from that, not that it was filmed twice.
