It's just the pricedrop bump. And Amazon is as arbitrary as you get, with hourly changes in position.

If the trend is still there a month from now, that'll be something

good news.

I like when price cuts are reinforced by an immediate increase in sales. I figure in time I may own both and Xbox and PS3 once there's a nice cache of games that I like on both platforms.

Nice, £250 really is a bargain for a HD games machine and Blu-ray player.

Your friend is a crackhead. For $200 he could have upgraded his PS3's hard drive to a 160GB unit, bought a wifi dongle, and an el cheapo multicard reader and still would have money left over.

That being said, props on capitalizing on the great deal.

It's much neater being able to setup WiFi easily through the XMB and not having a USB card reader dangling from a USB cable.

If one checks GTA IV orders on amazon, its just under 3:2 in favour of 360. A bit surprising given the 3X install base of the 360.

Or perhaps half of the 360s are enroute to repairs (rimshot)

(thus the base-ratio is only 1.5X, as reflected by GTA IV)

Default PS3's surge at Amazon today

You can see it in The Digital Bits......sales of PS3's on Amazon.com went up 2800% today in response to the just announced $100 price drop. 2800%!!!!!!!
That's a hell of a lot more Blu players in the hands of consumers.
Gotta say it, that's good for Blu!

Default Free Stuff too!

If you order from Amazon, you also get a free remote and SIX free movies from Amazon. I am guessing that is in addition to the FIVE free you get with the other offer!

Now this is the point where sony truley enter the console war, a price drop every future ps3 owner wanted. Just a couple months away from major games, and ofcourse all the sony annoucements at E3. Really smart business move on sonys side.

Actually you get ONE free movie (Memento) and the Blu-ray remote. Of course you can still get the 5 free movies in the mail.

BTW PS3 is the #1 selling item in video games right now!!
