Do you have a cable/TV channel that shows HD concerts?
I'm not even all that huge a music fan in general, but I find them mesmorizing. I'll watch people who's music I dont usually listen regularly as well. HD concerts just hypnotize me. Feels like you are there in the crowd. |

CD maxes out at 80 minutes. Concerts can go on for longer than that. A "live" CD are often mixed from different concert dates into one thereby not preserving the original feel or set list.

I love movies, but I'm more likely to watch a concert over and over than a movie. After I've watched a movie, it takes me a good 6 months at least to regain any interest. A concert is different because they capture individual talent that is unique for each musician. Instead of pumping mp3's through the house, why not put in a blu-ray performance and add to the sensory experience?
And for the musicians, it only makes sense. They've already staged the performances for their general concerts, all that's required is a film crew. In an age while most CD's are pirated, it's good sense to put their work to blu-ray so that it's ahead of the piracy and meanwhile it promotes attendance to any future shows. |

I would buy a few live concert blu-rays if I had good speakers and a good receiver.

My favorite on DVD at the moment is the David Gilmour In Concert from a couple of years ago. I am looking forward to his new one on Blu-ray to be released this month. But then I spend more time listening to music then I do watching movies anyway. So I am a bit biased that way. |

This is very true. Pink Floyd's Pulse, Rush's A Show Of Hands, and NIN's And All That Could Have Been, and Beside You In Time are a few examples. It's easily more noticable in the NIN concerts, if you watch closely you can see which are outdoor and which are indoor performances. Most of the time live shows son't always go as planned, i.e. Spinal Tapish moments and the like, so the concerts are recorded over several nights and the best performances are edited together, to make one cohesive show.

It is you! No doubt!
![]() I have a great interest in live concerts, and opera in particular, and truly hope that SONY and Universal Music amongst others (Kultur?) bring as many great titles as possible. The DIDO Live at Brixton Academy...where is it? Depeche Mode Live in Paris. Universal Music PLEASE put this one on Blu!! Sony...where is THE WALL? I will buy as many as they put on the market. Just bring them on. Dr.A |

"The Band"'s The Last Waltz was an event in and of itself. Dylan, Clapton, Doctor John, Van Morrison Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Muddy Waters, Ringo, Ronnie Woods. I'm only 35, but I can appreciate what a big deal it was for it's time and even though I can only watch it on my 27" tube TV - I saw it on a big-assed TV at BB one time and all I can say is - I can't wait to buy a Bravia!!!
At BB that day, I felt like I was right onstage with the group. I definitely recommend it, even if you aren't sure who The Band really was. I was won over, you may be too. By the way - it was directed by a very young and black haired/bearded Martin Scorsese - many forget to include The Last Waltz among the list of his great flics, simply because it's a concert film. But that would be like saying "Woodstock" was "just a concert film". |

I love concerts on dvd. I've got 15 concert DVD's and one BD(NIN) I wish they would put out more music BD of rock and metal. Im stoked about Queen but I wish I could get some more rock/metal on BD. I only buy concert DVD's of bands I really like alot though, it's like seeing them in concert, and like someone else said, hearing a new take on the music, a lot of bands change the music around over the years to keep it fresh, like tool or 311. Love concert DVD's.
